Ive reread some threads on this subject and as I set up a new 15x24 flower room sealed with vents to exhaust as needed, im still stuck on which way to go.

Burners: Im concerned about the ethelene build up, fire, heat, and having to exhaust to expell ethelene gasses.

Tanks: prolly go with 2x50lb tanks and concerned about luggin those around and how often

Seems like im leaning towards tanks.

Id like to here what u guys think.

Tanks seem way safer to me, and then ya never have to worry whether your burner is running right or being counter productive. Just get ya a nice cylinder cart and those 50lb tanks won't seem so bad

TK has a nice set up in his funky town thread.. It looks like they are only in CO. Not sure what state your from.. I was going to look around Wa and see if there was anything similar.

@stickyfing3rs, that's what I was leaning towards, but dam those Dolly's are as much as a tank.

@One Flip , I saw that set up by TK, super clean and nice to have a truck jus come by and fill u up, but that wouldn't wrk at my spot. Keeping it low pro.

If humidity and temp aren't real issues go with a burner on a timer. Natural gas and propane are real cheap compared to tanks of Co2.

I have ran both in the same room, and the tanks cost 4 times to run per flower cycle. Also, you are always having to drag tanks or have deliveries of the bottles of Co2.

As far as safety. Put up an extra layer of dry wall above burner. Compressed tanks if they fall and the valve snaps off, are a missile.

I used to run burners and I had some problems, I switched to tanks and said problems went away.

I have a bunch 20lb tanks, I exchange out weekly, those 50lb tanks are expensive to buy and too heavy.

I snag 20 lb tanks for like 125 bucks.

I spend 100 a month per room on co2, and it's a drop in the bucket.

Please be more specific so (we) people can learn. What problems did you have with using burners? Was it a plant symptom, heat, humidity, mechanical or something else. How did tanks change your issues?

Where I live a 2o lb. cost 24$ and last five days (silly) in 12x12 with 4kw.

I have a 10x16 flower room and I get a flower cycle out of two 20lb tanks... tank refill is a little under $20 each...

If you're room is sealed up properly, you can get a lot longer out of a tank than most people experience due to atmosphere infiltration from air cooled hoods, air conditioners, etc.

The best way to go is 100% sealed with split system(s) for cooling and non air cooled hoods.

I don't bother exhausting at night... but even if I did, this would put little if any dent in co2 consumption.

I've considered going the burner route, but without nat gas I'd still be lugging and refilling tanks, ultimately, albeit likely even less lugging.

Depending on where you have to lug tanks, in my particular setup it's just not worth it to haul 50 lb tanks. They're pretty fucking heavy... going up/down steps even with a cart would be a pita. 20's are small and easy to transport, so get a few, seal your room and run it proper... and you can make refilling tanks an end-of-flower-cycle ritual ;)

i think you might have a problem with air leaks somewhere if your using that much gas in that size room.i use 2x 20# for a cycle in my 12 x 20 x 9.5h running around 1200ppm with 10kw of lighting.although i dont run my co2 at all during lights out, just exhausting my room during that time.
i never could trust the burners after reading about the various problems around the net.20# are around 25 bucks to exchange and 20bucks to have mine filled at the hvac supply house by me.propane is cheap to,bout 12 bucks to fill a 20# tank at ace hardware.

I agree there are leaks for sure, they charge 4.95 per toxic waste disposal per refill, I am like WTF what toxic waste. But the point is, it is still cheaper to run a burner, I don't care where you are. The cost per gallon of propane 3,50 ish lasts 2 gallon maybe three gallon constant at 1500 ppm in early flower 3 weeks and 900 to 1250 pm during peek 5 -8 week flower per 70 day cycle.

But, what do I know?

@Billyboat Ultimately, I want to know what "some problems"entail

I had Ethylene build up with my burner and switched to tanks. Because it took me so long to put the burner up I'm leaving it in place with the pilot light running, this keeps the ppms around 300-400 and my tanks take it up the rest of the way. Looking like one 20lb tank in a 1600 cu ft. room is going to last me 7-10 days.

Also, if you do 50lb tanks spend the extra $$ on aluminum, much lighter.

I had Ethylene build up problems. Perfectly controlled room 23x14x9, getting all kinds of leaf curl, yellowing, no root growth, replaced 3 sets of plants till I figured it out. Switched to tanks and 3 days later and I saw improvement.

My tanks last 5-7 days in these 12-14k rooms.

Cheers

Thnx fellas, Tanks it is, and since my size room is the same as u @Billyboat , i think im gonna go with 20 lb tanks also. I have one now so i think ill get a couple more.

what do u guys think about co2 for veg, should I run exhausted veg of will low Co2 be ok?. my veg room will have everything from clones to mothers to teens.

My veg room stays at 700-800 without any added co2, I run my flower rooms at 1000-1200, so I couldn't see it changing much. I also don't exhaust my veg room. Sealed up just like my flower rooms.

Cheers

I used burners before and recently switched to co2 bottles. The switch to co2 bottles has saved me a lot of struggle/stress. It gives me a safer feeling as well.

+ No worry about a burner functioning properly
+ In a closed room the use of co2 bottles instead of a burner decreases the room temp at least with 2 degrees in celcius
+No need to worry about where to position the burner in the room

-Depending on the size of the bottle they can be quite heavy
