What is the best way to collect and store pollen?

I attempted this a while back, but when I tried to pollenate a plant, I didn't get any seeds?

The pollen was about six months old, and I had it kept in a mason jar?

Thanks in advance for any tips!

Pollen needs to be stored in cold conditions to survive and collected with low almost zero humidity. Water kills pollen

Collect it as it falls from the male flowers , you can tap the branch to force pollen to fall
Use a shiny/glossy magazine-backcover (non porous surface) as a collection dish and use a CCard to collect it. Store it in a small vial with some rice and put it in the freezer.
