Controller Ai+ upgrade from Controller 69 pro

So my 69 pro just arrived today. I've got 2 cloudline fans and a humidifier to hook up to it? My intake is also from outdoors. Does the 69 pro still use the temp readout from the cloudline fans or only the sensor that came with the new unit? Like could I put the pro controller probe outside or does it have to go in the tent? When you say it reads the lung room is that from a separate internal sensor?

Any tips or advice on how to get started with this thing would be appreciated!
the controller ai has a sensor on the controller that reads the room the tent is in. The 69pro does not have that. and you should keep the sensor in the tent

What about the sensor from the 2 fans? Are they not used anymore?

im not sure. im sure you can maybe use them but the controller only has one port for the sensor if im not mistaken
That's true about the UIS 69 pro (one sensor port) but several items in their offerings have their own sensor cables. The humidifier does, and so does the heater ...

@Grownsince95 with my UIS 69 pro, the sensor connected to the UIS device is what drove the devices. I have the sensor for the humidifier inside the tent. I removed the sensor cable plug from the heater (which is under-powered for a 5 x 5) and ran it off the UIS sensor. Anyway, both devices followed the UIS programing.

I bought the wrong molex to uis adapters. I got male and I needed female...ugh 😩

This whole time I thought it connected through the other port on the display. I'm an idiot and didn't really research the details and just assumed. I'm an ass 🐴

Heres a new app update. The night mode settings will be nice in my opinion. Able to keep humidity below a certain %

Ok so I finally got the update installed. I already have a grow going so I'm not on the main page with different recipes or whatever. But the upgrade does seem impressive and a little more technical and very informative in real time to me. I may have to take a screen recording to show it all but here are the pictures I took.

It has preferred temps and humidity while still being in vpd mode.

Instead of saying your inline increased to level 4, it now tells you why it increased or decreased. As in it increased inline fan to level 6 to increase vpd which I like. It seems more technical and is moving more away from the controller 69 model and becoming actually something better.

I need to get a CO2 sensor and a moisture meter so that I can utilize more of the controller.

This is what the main AI page looked like after the update

Enabling night mode settings. It's a complete different set of settings for night mode. So I can turn off my humidifier at night and decrease the fan speed if I want to. I also feel like the controller had trouble telling the difference between day and night sometimes. Like it would increase my inline at night more than it would during the day and In my mind I wanted it increased during the day for more ambient CO2 being brought through the tent/fresh air. I just felt like it was more important than it was to have it high at night as long as the humidity was in check.

Has anyone ripped them a new one on the green spectrum and AI mistake/nonsense? That is such old science. I mean it has been years since the green is okay at night myth was debunked. As with nearly all C3 plants, cannabis for all intents and purposes does not care where the light comes from on the spectrum...very good at capturing and converting it regardless of source location on the spectrum. All the UV/red/blue arguments are marginal things to tweak if stuck indoors, but again marginal.

Really looking forward to playing with one of these controllers, just scared to be a guinea pig. Friend who won one at the end of last year (so they were basically brand new) had all sorts of weird issues with it. Like ports having memory flashed when using the AI and such.. Anyone notice the memory is shoddy/capacitance is different than the 69 pro/pro+?

Yes, UVB at the watt levels available for indoor growers today doesn't have much affect on cannabis. However, to lump blue, deep red, and far red into that is a huge mistake. I've studied this and advanced light wave manipulation is a powerful sculpting tool and has a dramatic affect on plant morphology. Please take a moment to read my report. Maybe even implement some of these strategies into your own grows before you make a blanket incorrect statement about lightwave manipulation. My studies are first hand experiments and the results show its far from marginal!

I avoid all light around the plants at night but my controller isnt anywhere near them. I learned this over time with a fan I had. It emitted green light at a certain fan speed and every plant In that back left corner where the fan was gave me a few seeds.

But the controller isn't emitting any light near the plants. I'm not sure what you were referring too.

I'm also not sure what you meant about memory. I had to restart with all new settings and everything but I didn't have any issues with the ports or the controller in general. Only issue I can remember was trying to let the AI do it's thing. I had trouble letting it learn cuz it was changing everything and stressing me out but eventually it figured itself out.

Here's what he's referring to ... the UIS system puts a grow light into a standby state with the LED still on. At least, this was the case when I used the UIS dongle to connect to the UIS interface. When I saw that it doesn't cut the power and the green led showing the light setting during the dark cycle was still on, I immediately went back to using smart plugs which are either power on or power off ... eliminating the green glow from the HMI on the grow light.

He is 100% correct when it comes to light is light. Green light is still light and plants do react to it. The presence of these little diodes remaining on will significantly raise your odds of growing hermies.

What wasn't quite correct in his statement was assuming that Blues/Deep Reds/Far Reds manipulation doesn't have a strong correlation to plant morphology. Blues/Deep Reds/Far Reds have a dramatic affect and can be used to steer your grow.

Even the AI version is priced reasonably enough not to break the bank. I like many of the features on the pro version, but not all of them. For example, I have the dongle to plug in my 630 watt nanolux LED fixture into the UIS system, but even though it turns the light on and off on queue, it leaves the green LED display on during the dark cycle ... I realize that many people buy into the notion that green isn't seen by the plants, but newer studies have shown that isn't completely the truth. Light is light and green light is still light. To me, the dark cycle should be 100% dark ... no glow from anything inside the tent. Aside from that, I have been pleased with the automation at an affordable price on the pro version.

@DaddyPrime2 - can you please share in a couple of paragraphs what pros and cons the AI version has compared to the Pro. Also, can you explain more about how AI goes about tuning in your grow parameters? I'm interested and would like to hear more from someone who isn't trying to sell me something.
i know this is way late but i have nanolux 630s also but i wasn't sure if they were compatible with the ai controller. so the only thing you are able to do is turn then on or off? no dimming?

I didn't get that far with the UIS controller. That green light that tells you if the Nanolux light is on or off stays on when using the UIS controller. This is a problem! I know someone will chime in and say "it's green" but let me tell you something, that's bro-science. New studies show that cannabis does see and react to green light so its actually NOT SAFE to use with flowering cannabis.

I check these things so when I saw that green light staying on, I went back to a smart outlet where "off" cuts all electricity to the light and the green LED no longer stays lit on the fixture. If you insist on using the UIS controller to control your fixture, at least cover that green LED with black electrical tape so it doesn't cast that green glow through your crop during lights off. It's not worth the frustration of having hermies show up in your garden.

If they're powered from a control plug, they can only be turned on or off. They have to be connected to the controller with a UIS cable to control the dimming. That involves making sure the light is compatible. It also might require an adapter.

I have three tents and only one of the lights is controlled by the controller. I use the dimmer knob on the other two. I can't say I like either method more than the other. I considered running the other two lights from the controller but realized I'm usually at the tent when I change the light. So, I don't need to use the phone app for that. I don't like needing to have my phone with me every moment of the day.
