Good day every one. New to the forum. Not growing just here to reading the content for awhile now. Figure I would set up an account to be able to ask stuff. I do have a few questions to start.

1. On the cool tube (just the basic one, not the hood version.) Most pictures I have seen show the wire coming out of the mogul, then coming out of a hole at the end of the fixture. The other one I have seen has the wire coming out of the mogul and straightout of the side opening. With the second set up it looks as if you would have to run the plug through your exhaust to plug it in. Has anyone seen set up 2 before? Is that safe or should it be set up like the first one coming out of the hole on metal portion of the tube.

The first one with the cord coming from the side of the tube is plug n play...that is the way I would, and did go when building out my tent.

The 2nd one with the cord coming directly from the mogul would need a hole cut into the ducting to avoid threading it through.

Good Luck and Great Growz

I was able to find some pictures to be exact. You did already answer the question, just want to be 100% sure. The second picture has the hole in the metal portion where I see most cords running. Nothing wrong with the first one though? Other than like you said cutting a hole in the vent to run the plug.

I would do whatever fits your setup best.

For example my ballast is outside my tent in a specific place.
And I had to run it through the tent's upper vent hole squeezed next to the ductwork.
Doing this added a few inches of vertical cool tube adjustment. Instead of through that "cord sock" on the left

Also when it was through that "cord sock". The weight of the cord in that direction would cause misalignment of the cool tube.

But if it was coming out the side of the cooltube like in your pictures. I could have run it through the exhaust duct and out (I have my can fan before the light fixture pushing air out of the tent).
So this would have been more ideal.

But you (may) need or want your plug running somewhere else (through a wall, through a tent opening meant for cords etc). This may require the cord to be run through the cool tube body and out instead.

I would install the fixture first (temporarily). Then see what needs to be done.

The set up I imagined would be a 4x4 tent, 6" HO Can fan, carbon filter and 1000w hps in cool tube. Filter, fan, then push through lights out the tent. No more than 5 in 5g containers. Pro mix PS nothing mixed into it.... (any help with additives in there would be cool). Optimum A and B for veg and Optimum A and B for flower. Not sure exactly size of carbon filter. 6" flange to connect on it and weighs about 40 50 lbs. At least 30" long. No name to identify it. Any idea what it may be as far as specs?
