Hi I’ve been having some heat issues so I got a portable ac but the thing is so damn big so I bought a ducting flange and some ducting and mcguyver’d it by leaving the ac outside with cold air venting into bottom of tent but now I’m worried about cold air blowing on the floor might stress the roots, but if I vent it to the top of tent my carbon filter will just suck out the cold air without cooling tent. So I’m reaching out to all u smart growers for a solution. How would u set this up? I have an 8in in-line fan but it’s too loud and my kids hate it so I keep it on about 30%. Pretty much use it just for the carbon filter . Please brainstorm with me . Thanks

Cool the room the tent is in... not the tent itself.

There is no worry of your roots getting to cold from the ac.....the ground gets well below 70F outside, DWC systems keep water temp below 68F and roots love it!!

You also don't want your tent that cool. Around 85F is good for lights on, and you want 5 to 10 degrees cooler at lights off.

What you should be worried about is leaf temps, and humidity levels, if your gonna be all "OCD" about the temps..IMHO

How are you removing the heat from the lights, are you using an inline fan excetera?
Yea I have an 8in in line with phresh carbon filter I know it’s overkill but to be honest I didn’t know it would be so big but in my defense I plan on moving to a bigger space in the near future. I usually run it at 40% which give me just slightly negative pressure

Yes I just re-read my bad, so what are your temperatures without the AC going into the tent? What is your ambient room temperature? What kind of light(s) are you using thats producing so much heat? Are you using a sealed hood and or cool tube if HID?

Have you considered putting your inline fan in the tent to reduce the noise

I’m using a 315 cmh and hlg 300 v2 rspec . Tent without ac runs 88 and ambient temps in the room about 78. I know 88 isn’t as bad as I’ve read some tents get but I would like to keep it in the mid 70s if possible to prevent bud rot I’m in late flower should be harvesting soon and bud formation is thick. I’d hate to lose my medicine this late in the game

And thanks for helping everybody I’m just at a point where I’m trying to learn and really get everything dialed in for future reference. I know my problem might not be that severe but I appreciate u guys taking the time to try to help me out so thank u

I have multiple fans running including one outside my tent blowing in thru the vents

If you put your inline inside the tent you'll be able to run it higher, the tent will cut down some of the noise.

Low 80s is acceptable for temps, dropping the room temp a couple degrees might put you in the mid-to-lower 80's without the AC on? Good luck!
