yeh man the lime is a good idea it helps to prevent slugs and snails from eating the crap out of ur plants. egg shells also work, but not as wellas lime. also half full beer cans attract pests then get trapped inside and die.

theres also a product called diatomecious(sp?) earth thats used for just that purpose and does work pretty well. not as fun as a salt shaker tho. ;)
