It'd be made totally from cattle fencing. Basically a cage built over my garden. And yes, like tallboy, with roll up cover, but only over the roof so I can keep air moving.

If winds are going to be strong, I can always attach tarps to the sides it's coming from, keeping rain from entertaining that way.

It's not the cold that bothers me here, it's the humidity and rain we typically have in late September early October. On average the second week in October, makes or breaks ya, here. Usually by third week the weather breaks into a Indian summer kinda thing that can last till November. So it's all about those first two weeks of October I have to deal with. Most guys end up loosing most of their stuff to rot, mostly those growing big fat colas.

I had no rot in my white Buffalo ( smaller airy buds )

I lost maybe 1/2 ounce of my California Orange ( Larger dense buds) to rot.

Guy I know had a beautiful crop going in 2024. Big fat forearm size colas. Rained 3 days straight, no wind, then clouds and no sunshine the rest of the week. Lost all of it to bud rot. Sad part...rest of month into mid Nov was perfect. So it's a hit and miss two weeks. It's more about being totally legal, 1st and protecting my investment, 2nd

But that's why I've spent lots of time researching cultivars suited better for my climate. The cage is financially out of my hands at the moment, but never off the board.

I hate October. Not for the weather, but it's the month I associate the most, with death. I've lost most of my friends and family in this month, over the years
Even had my own heart attack in this month. ( Survived a real widowmaker) Cardiologist still trying to figure out how I survived it.

Too much weed....so little time.🤣🤣
Me too. And now that you say that, you are correct, the first 2 weeks of October are the worst, then it usually gets better. Halloween is always a crap shoot.
And I've had to trash my biggest buds 3 years in a row. Loose airy buds are my preferred variety. LOL

The plants are still alive and I have learned another lesson.
Lesson: Don't boost the plants too close to the light, they don't like it. Unless, they are seedlings. 🫤

I boosted the plants closer to the light in the tent, checking to make PAR was 300 or less in an effort to turn down the power a little. I went through all the maybe it's this, maybe it's that, until deciding to put them on the floor and boosting the light 'til PAR was correct. That was it.

Plants under the florescent grow light suffered the same and I corrected that and they look much better now. It's puzzling to me how the seedlings can be right up against the tubes and not show stress, but the month old ones suffered. Fascinating.

The way my lights and heat work it is beneficial for me to have the plants as low as possible and the lights at the highest possible.
I actually did a test to verify what I knew from science class. There was a substantial boost in lower plant light levels when you upped the light distance and strength but the tops are at the same value.
Having your light set at 300 ppdf at a distance close and then double the distance but still tops at 300 ppdf with more energy is much more effective.
As you have seen.

Yeah funny about that light. I thought it was oppesit: Maybe the spectrum change when lower the wattage?

But plants looks good.

Sorry i forgot but are you going to finish your plants outside?

Yep, they will go outside, or their clones will, I don't think these plants will hold off until June.
And, after 'discovering' my mistake I remembered Capt. Spaulding and the bunker with the lights at the ceiling and if one of the plants looked stretched, he put it on a riser.

Hate learning all these lessons the hard way, but hopefully it'll stick better in this old brain. 🤣

Nah it's the only way to really understand what you learn imo.

Yeah i thought you mentioned the out door grow Thanks.

PS i found your answer to me because greyoldnproud tagged me. Easier for me if you tag or quote or something

I love vegging my plants under the fluorescent lights. They love it. Takes them a few days to come around under the led’s from what I’ve noticed.

Looking good C! ✌️

Thanks for letting me know about the 'adjustment' from florescent to LEDs. I know I would have been fretting, if you hadn't stopped in and mentioned it. 💚

Of course! It’s just ONE more thing you can keep an eye on hahaha! : )

Your plants really are looking amazing right now. Great shot from above!🤩
