Grow regular seed instead of fem or auto. Start inside a couple months before outside date which is when chance of frost disappears in your area. If there is a protected site (eg. against the garage or between barns) use it to keep plants tied to and not breaking. Add peat and aged manure to soil to hold water. Earth shouldn't be pure sand. You are right that super hot and dry won't be the answer although it's what some farmers have to work with now. If you have some shade use it.

Wish you the best of luck back.
Thanks for the tips. Not sure which seeds are going to work best for me yet. Just not enough experience.

I'm not seeing much difference in vigor between the regulars and feminized. Pest and disease resistance isn't much different either. I try to buy seeds from breeders who grow outdoors but they don't always tell ya.
That gets me also. I'd only buy outdoor grown seed if that was a choice.
I admire the in growers.✌️💚
But, it is getting easier to find outdoor grower vids. Our own localities, outdoor grown, would help mucho, tho 😍
Wishing for a successful finish🌿💞🌿 for you my SheeeRo✌️🍻💜 (I gotta catch up)😘

If I had a choice on a particular strain, I would go with feminized! But there is a path that leads to a land of strains where fems aren’t offered!👍
After what I've dealt with in the way of rain, humidity, wind, very HOT days, and bugs, I want the strains that are MOST resistant to all of it. The shortest grow cycle for a photo or feminized here in Ohio would be nice too. I'm such a novice and need these types of advantages. I thought I was doing that this year to an extent, but what I've ended up with is a 100% reverse order of what I expected, meaning I don't understand these strains at all lol. My path goes in a circle.

The free gorilla cookies auto from FastBuds is my best this year, and apparently I'm the only person who's growing it outdoors. But it's a champion bean of some cannabis cup 2025, supposedly very resilient, and that's probably the only reason she's producing for me despite the unfavorable environment for this strain.

I'd buy it now. Doesn't look like the user submitted pics of indoor grows, but similar.

I have grown many many different strains since it became legal in 2019. None of the photoperiods survived the diseases in my micro climate without preventative spraying. The Autos do pretty well, so I always grow them in case the monsters fail.

I think I will continue to do autos no matter what else I do. I'm curious now.

As for the photos, my only attempt was last year in ground Durban Poison. I made it to the end, and it produced some decent buds, I thought, but to be honest, multiple things could have been wrong and I wouldn't have known. I used Crop Defender 300 light dose every couple weeks in the morning, and that was it.

I'm going to try photos in the ground again next year and just do my best. Hope for better weather too.

Yesterday, hubby and I got our 'shots' (flu and flu) and we were told to take it easy. The day was sunny so I ignored the advice and took down the Sticky Beast in the 7 gallon pot. Then had to go inside and lay down. 🫤
After watching me, hubby said, 'you're gonna have'ta get faster than that', referring to the monsters out back. LOL

So, I just checked my thread of last year's grow on this date and it was bad. By this time I had already chopped or written off most of my plants due to Septoria. This year, if I can harvest a quarter I will be so happy. But, like Hoss said, don't want to count my chickens yet. And looking at them with my binoculars, I can see branches of flowers laying on top of one another. Akkkk
LOL

Yeah, the difference is night and day! This year‘s grow has been two or three years in the making! You have learned a lot, BUT…….😂😍

I blow dried mine will spray again tomorrow. That might be it for spraying and food now for me.
I almost quit spraying this year, but I have a few that will go long, so, have to keep it up a couple more times.
They're looking.... I want to say good, but there are still issues.
BUT, I've started to think about the harvest. If I take down 1 plant a day and there are 20 plants, not counting the bag ladies or the ones near the greenhouse, I should be done in a month. If I harvest the others, maybe Halloween? Boo.

I'm spraying every day for powdery mildew now. At chop time I'll add a hydrogen peroxide bath before drying on a lot of branches.

I've got low 40's at night mid 60's in the day but dry. The days are consistent and no 70's in sight which is good news because the wicked storms are usually warm meeting cold. Because of all the rain this summer the plants haven't gotten the sun and buds are later in the season/ smaller. If I can get a couple more weeks before wet and wicked winds I'll take them.

I would approach your harvest by chopping plants down that are ready even if they don't get trimmed. You can trim a stack of branches in the garage on a rainy/ windy day in comfort.

Very similar to our weather and I took a look at the Afghan bud from the 12 and I'm not seeing alot of clear with my 2 hand held electronic loupes. So, to do a double check I brought one inside to look at with the big digital microscope and the results are in-conclusive. I cut the tiny buds apart and inside is still clear. I'd post pics but I still don't know how to transfer them to the farm. Need one of my kids to show me. LOL
