What was your environmental parameters during drying? If the temps were too high and humidity too low it can be volatile to your terps. 7 days is a little too fast IMO for drying.

The best process is low and slow. Try to get your temps as low as possible, between 60-67, definitely under 70.

Humidity for the first couple of days can range between 63-70, but after a couple of days you should be at 58-62% humidity and try and remain at that humidity for the next 10-12 days until you feel the stems snap. Moisture meters also help to gauge when it’s best to bag and jar.

When you trim you should already smell your buds and their terpenes should be pronounced and you shouldn’t notice any hay or grass smell.

Faster if you use smell killers, you can actually use a kitty iller smell removal spray

Let it hang and dry slowly and the grass stink will go away in time. Don't jar it until it stops stinking of hay.
Next grow cut the nitrogen out sooner so the plant is not green when you harvest.

It dried to fast. You need to slow down the process. I hang my plants for no less than two weeks before jarring. I keep my humidity at60%

science has proved all that to be wrong..
and really just think about it? non of it makes any sense..
just like many other things people do that are bro science,.. take the switch from 18/6-12/12? it’s total bro science.. but it’s everywhere on the internet,. flowering plants benefit from longer flower times with lower intensity..
anyhoo don’t want to misdirect this thread..

You may have to hang them for 6 or 8 weeks. Not a week or 2.
The green in a plant is Chlorophyll. This is what makes the grass or hay smell.
I found this out years ago so I back off the N a bit at a time and starve my plants for nitrogen from the end of stretch until harvest.

My plants drop there leaves are usually nasty looking with no leaves left only buds. Most of the sugar leaves are brown and ugly. But they sugar like crazy and no grass smell.

Hope this helps you.

Out of a number of grows I've smelled the grass smell about half the time. I notice it pretty soon in the drying tent. I don't have any in tent environmental controls, just whatever the basement temp and humidity is at. I dry for 8 or 9 days and jar it, then burp every day for a couple weeks by pouring the contents out onto a piece of paper, examining it and putting it back in the jar. Smell goes away fairly quickly in the curing jars. Not trying to contradict anyone or say you can't prevent it with a strategy, but for me it's been a non-issue. I have some Blue Haze I harvested back in April that had it, smells amazing now and I didn't do anything special about it. Perhaps it lost something and a true connoisseur might scoff at it, but I'm very happy with it and the target audience is very appreciative.
