Pro build mate, that system looks great.

thanks icultivate.:)

here's a three-day update... the system EC is .6, and the nutrient temperature is 65 degrees Fahrenheit... The pH is 6.0, and the temperature of the room is 78°F, with 37 percent humidity.

the lights are on 24 /7 , and I am using the Current Culture Solutions lineup... VEG A and VEG B, and EC Roots.

I am using a 1/4 horsepower chiller.

Hey Ken so I've been reading your thread. On your last post you say your running your nutrient temperature at 65 deg's. Is there a reason you are running it that low? Ive always been told that 68-70 is the best to run your nutrient temp at. Anything lower or higher could lead to pythium and other water bacterial problems. I was also wondering do you top or F.I.M.? Thanks Ken Grow On

I want the highest amount of oxygen dissolved in water, so the colder the temperature, the more oxygen can be dissolved... And there's not much more to gain below 63 degrees Fahrenheit.

also, since I run a sterile system, I really don't want any sort of slime to develop... 65 degrees seems like a very good spot to be in.

I mostly top, whenever the plant is ready... I really don't fim them too much, unless I do make a mistake.

I just dumped the system, because .6 EC is too high... I noticed signs of nutrient burn.

I added 70 gallons of water, and added 15 milliliters of Veg A and Veg B... along with 50 milliliters of Roots.

the EC is now .3, and the pH is 6.1

Nice, For me 65 deg is just alit cold for my babies. My roots seem to be in alit bit of shock at that temp.(Light tanish in color) not pearly whites. so the little bit of extra oxygen doesn't do me any good. That's why as you can see I put two air stones in there and keep mine at 68 degs.
As to topping/ f.i.m.ing I've always done mine at the 4-5 node. Seem to make a cpl more top branches which in turn,is a bush of a plant when nailed right. Fimming isn't a mistake? It was named that because the guy it was named after was topping in a hurry and didn't top it right. Noticed he got 4 tops not just two tops. It was epic for all the growers but everyone got there own way. How do you tell when your plants are to that point?
Sorry to see you got alit nutrient burn on your babies. 70 gallons of water tho? That's alot of water and nutrients to fill that system up. The Hydro Life 7.8 only runs 25 gallon for there 8 bucket setup. Alit cheaper on the pocket book and less work. Hope your babies are ok. Thanks And grow on!!! Alit root porn for everyone. very nice biker22:)

I'll keep an eye on the roots, and maybe I will raise the temperature a little, thanks for the advice... I'll try fimming a week or so before I flip to veg as well... one of my grower buddies swears by this.
I'm always willing to learn new ways to improve my grow... Thanks.:)

also, I went with 70 gallons of water to make my EC go down a little from .4 to.3... I only added 15 milliliters of A&B. my tap water comes out a little over EC .2.

also, I wanted the water in the net pots to be a little high for one of my plants which I transplanted from an ebb and flow pot.

the others came from a clone machine, and since I cut a hole in the bottom of the net pots, and ran the root tail through the hole, directly into the nutrient solution, it wasn't an issue for those plants.

Thank you!!!!! And that's why we are all here is to give are two cents. Hear ppl out and see what works best for you and your setup. I like to fim at the 4-5 node bc that gives the baby plenty of time to get its bush on. lol
And about the 70 gallon I just cant believe you can even fit that much water in it. Makes since on the water level being so high to get it in the baskets. I just wouldn't want that much water sitting in my room. Huge mess if something did go wrong. Id rather 25 gallons of mess not 70 gallons. Thats Scary to me!!! Also how your run more water to get the roots to drop in that one. That's where the top feed comes into play with my system. Im putting water/nutrient mix in my grow medium so I can still keep my space for air and roots for the other faster rooting babies. Thanks and Grow on love the work

I got a surprise today when I checked my PH and it was 4.5... and I accidentally had turned my chiller off.
I fixed it... Very slowly.
the pH is now 5.9
here's a picture taken a moment ago... I have gotten to my second round of toppings, & I am almost ready to set the net and start my scrog.

nice roots bro, they gonna get big! or are ya scrogging the lot of em?

neverbreak

Enjoyed browsing your thread Ken Dog, cheers for sharing.

aloha ken, sometimes a dropping ph can be a sign of root rot.

nice grow here and on the bucket!

thanks everyone!... I'm glad you are liking it.

last night, I set up the net... and started super cropping.
by bending the main stem over, it allows for other shoots to emerge.
