I read a newspaper article a couple years ago. Carlsbad police got a warrent for a house there because of excesive power. Bust into the house and there was nothing but tvs and computers. The article went on to say that had happened more than once in carlsbad ca. The police are bored. Socal and norcal are different.

Also i know for a fact that the sheriffs departmant in Santa Cruz County are a bunch of rippers. This came from some high sources. You think cops follow the law?????

So yeah if i could stay of grid or add even more lights then why not. Anyways it saves the environment. 650 *12=7800.

Pay it off in three years plus companies will finance it for you.

Also this guy is doing the test for free and the rest of us get to watch. So watch or post a better idea.

Log the KillaWatt Meter Total from the 600w ballast plugged into the wall for 12 hours.

Then Log the KillaWatt Meter Total from charging the battery bank that runs the 600w ballast for 12 hours and you will see that it takes more KWH of GRID Power to charge the battery bank than it does to simply run the ballast off Gird AC Power.

Take pictures of the KillaWatt Meter Readings and show us whats up.

Richir RICH how about you log the kilowatt meter on the charger then the 2 600watt lights YES 2 richie this bank runs 2 600watt off each inverter not 1. Then show me what you got!! As i stated first post the charger is TEMP until solar panel but it indeed runs less eletric then the 2 600watters. Other then that as soon we set up in full blown D/C we will give full STEP by STEP process so hang in there richie boy the info will be presented.... ;]

AVERAGE 200.00 to 300.00, 650.00 would be with running the 12 600 on the grid...So we knocking atleast 300 to 350 of electric running D/C........:joint:

keep doing what your doing bro and don't let the haters get you down. Shit if I was running 12 600's here in socal my bill would easily be over a grand, and probably closer to $2K after ac, fans, ect.

THXS ALL,,,,Ok update: Things moving well as of now. Less then 4 weeks to go then we can move on to the solar panel connections. I'm really loving what the D/C powered 600watters are doing. Here some pics futher in the project. Just a reminder yes THERE WILL BE FULL SETUP ,STEP by STEP as we foward with our D/C grow like i said earlier doesn't happen over night but for those who following our D/C grow you will soon get a full DETAILED of SOLAR charged D/C grow with every step to take to start building your SOLAR charged D/C grow 1 light at a time our for guys with more funding FULL setups. So thxs again all for support and by the end of this forum you will not be disappointed. GURANTEED!!

This would work if you have no other options,but you lose too much in the conversion. The watts per panel converted to ac will keep the power companies in business a long time. JK
Exactly. A watt is a watt is a watt... The only way this would be beneficial is if you were using solar, wind etc.

CORRECTION: A KW/HR is a KW/HR used and that's what makes ELECTRIC BILLS!! Nethier of what you both say makes any since at all...:indifferent0023: Your words shows you haven't done your homework. So go back to school or stay around and be schooled makes no differance...:itwasntme. A watt is a WATT is A watt is correct in the since of how many kilowatts your watts pull..So it's all is KW/HR usage when it comes to ELECTRIC and you both could not be more INCORRECT of what your saying that a charger will use more KW/HR then 2-600watters. Shows again you have only judged but not VENTURED........ ;] I am living proof and the proof is in the PICTURES. It's as simple as this UNTIL one tries i guess there will always be those left behind...good day fellow farmers..:rauch08:

I keep seeing the same theme in so many posts concerning you "saving money" this way. But wasn't it your intention in the beginning to be able get OFF THE GRID, not to save money?

Personally, as long as it's not costing me a great deal more to run a setup like this, I'm definitely "down" for the power company not knowing that I have 3 or 30 lights burnin!

INDEED that's the plan but seems some on here keep going back to the charger cost and not the off grid this is leading to..Even if some can't afford the SOLAR setup they still will be able to run many more lights for less then half what it would cost to run on grid without D/C but yes bro this going to solar chargeing off GRID COMPLETELY

Your logic is completely broken dude. How about for an experiment control you run the setup for a month on your inefficient battery system, then the next month run it directly off the grid. There is absolutely no way your electric bill would be any cheaper with this system.

Dude you want to blow hot air up some skirts that's fine I spent too many years as a marine electrician to listen to your hot air. If you are into saving money you are wasting your time. If you want to go offline I could understand. But then why waste your time buying chargers and using them. I could see somewhat keeping them around for long time grey days. But I would just switch over to the grid on those days,less power since you will not have the loss in the conversation. You are pulling more amps for your lights using your system rather then running 240 off the grid. So right now you are having a bigger signature of using power,and that is what you seem to be wanting to hide.
Also those of you that want to look into this because a 300 dollar inverter is going to put out a crappy sine wave which will miss with electronics if you use any. It would be no problem for mag ballasts and I would think with digital ballasts also but I would look into that. JK

It has nothing to do with hating, man. It's using logic and a VERY fundamental understanding of electronics to correct this misinformation.

What is the efficiency rating of your inverter? What is the surge cap. rating? then you lose what you put into your batts at least 20%, then add the loss thru the cables. I sorry guy it's math,no emotions. JK

LMAO there is none it's as simple as turn on turn off in cylce and the lose if was any would be 000.1% even if that thru the 6in 0ga besides the charge you failing to realize is for my max charge and quickest. Meaning once it hits it peak charge the charger kicks over to FLOAT CHARGE meaning no amps. Surley you know 3-stage chargers meaning the only pump out what your battery needs as they charging the amp usage of the chargers drop until FLOAT TIME then it's none. So hell drop the amp output on the charger you would drop amp draws. This is where battery cappcity comes in play on how much your charger has to charge and how often. REALLY man you need the whole picture not half then maybe just maybe you would see the light. So have fun prove me wrong or just simply watch and learn how it's done......:anim_19: Also i think you have your inverters crossed....:thinking

Bro this is bad Ass! I have been trying for a year now how to get off grid and with my room almost done I stumble accross this. This is fantastic...

Was wondering if you could point me in the right direction to convert your system to 1k bulbs???? How many batteries per bulb and chargers.

looking to do a 4k room or up to 20k as our collective grows... thanks man and am deffinately loving your set up.
