Thats what I thought too. When I spoke to customer support the 1st time when all seeds didnt sprout he told me I was doing germination method wrong & told me when I he sent replacement seeds to leave in cup for 3-4 days but it could also take a week. He also said most ppl believe this will kill seeds but its a myth, lol. Funny cuz I was thinking the exact same thing as you.4 days in water would probably drown any seed.
Im gonna take outta cup & hope for the best. I doubt theyll send me replacements again. Should I move to paper plate method or straight to soil?4 days in water would probably drown any seed.
I've had great results with ILGM genetics. Never had one not pop. I've had success by leaving them in a cup of tap water in a dark cabinet for 24 hours, then planting in soil. I've got a few ILGM Super Skunks outdoors that I need to send pics of to you guys. Very healthy and vigorous.Thats what I thought too. Yeah, ill go with paper towel method. Thats actually the method ive used for yrs. Ive did cup method too but I would always leave in cup overnight no more than 24 hrs than transfer to paper towels then when tap root showed Id transfer to Dixie cups & Ive almost always had 100% germination rate. Last yr.did the same except moved from paper towel to rapid rooters which all sprouted as well. Dont have rooter this yr.but have peat pellet lying around. If by chance these replacement seeds do sprout im on the fence about the pellets as ive never used before so I might go right to soil after paper towels.Paper towel in a baggie- so you can watch the progress.
Im not sure if size counts for much when it comes to seeds but the 1st seed ILGM sent me that didnt sprout were tiny. Also when I was readin on their forum about replacement policy I was seeing lot of ppl who said their seeds didnt sprout but were praising them for how good they were about replacing seeds & how fast they got replacements to them but that doesn't really count for much when they dont sprout in 1st place. I consider myself a novice grower but Ive growing outdoor for over 20 yrs. Ive always kept it simple. Order good seeds, good soil,& let it do its thing. And ive done the paper towel method for yrs & have hardly had any not sprout on me so I wonder how viable their seeds are & maybe thats why they offer %100 germination or replacement bcuz most dont need to in 1st place cuz they dont have that problem. I ordered 10 girl scout coolies & 10 hindu kush from Nirvana last yr & every one sprouted. This is my 2nd round from ILGM & it isnt looking good.I bought some Girl Scout Cookie Extreme seeds from ILGM and had a very hard time getting them to germinate. I had 2 out of 5 pop. I chalked it up to being a first time grower but looking back it might have been the seeds because the were very small, pale and green. I kept searching for seeds domestically and found seeds on Twisted Tree, Gelato Seeds and Green Grass Seeds websites. Bought seeds from all three. Nova OG, Twisted Menagerie, White Widow, Orange Bubblegum and Northern Lights. All three use Zelle, ship super fast and the seeds look very healthy. The Nova OG and TM were very easy to germinate. Soaked them for 24 hours, placed one straight in FFOF soil and the other in a Jiffy Pellet. So far they are kicking ass after a week. I don't expect much of a yield from the GSC but that's okay since I've learned a lot.
you only wanna leave them in water for 12-24 hours tops. It's also a good idea to score of the seed if they're older.I dont know what kind of luck you guys have had with I love growing marijuana seeds(ILGM)company but im starting to seriously doubt the viability of their seeds. I ordered 5 fem strawberry cough seeds from them even tho theirthe same strain from all other companies is half the price bcuz I heard they have quality seeds & guarantee 100% germination. The 1st five didnt sprout so I sent out for replacements. I recently received replacements & have them sitting in cup of RO water on germ heating pad. Theyve been in cup for about 4 days now & only one is showing tail & the others have cracked. Tail showed two days & so did cracks but no progress has been made in past two days. In my experience once tail shows or seeds cracks you usually see improvement as days go by or if not seeds are duds. Should I remove from cup & place in soil on germ pad or leave in water?
5 days in the water? I think the longest ive ever left in water was 36hrs but that was just to crack seed. I let the paper towels finish the job for tap root. From what ive reah online alot of sites say 24-48 hrs or a week if seeds are really old. This last batch of replacement seeds I left on longer cuz 1st batch didnt sprout & company support said it could take up to wk in water with some seeds. Its just crazy to me cuz ive never had seeds take more than a day or two to show 3mm tap root once seeds crack. From my experience after seed cracks if taproot isnt 3mm or showing any growth its a dud. These seeds cracked 2 days ago & one even showed small tail & now two days later I see no development. It doesnt seem promising. Last batch before replacement pretty much did exact same thing, one showed tail & a rest cracked but ended there & i gave 8 days to sprout those. If its me I dont knoe what im doing wrong. Gave last batch 36 hrs in RO room temp water to papertowels/paperplates wrapped in saran wrap on germ heat pad for six days with no success.5 days is the longest its taken me to crack a viable seed. Average is 2 to 3 days. Earliest is 24 hours. (Water method)
I leave them in the water until the tail is like 5mm. Then right into some promix.5 days in the water? I think the longest ive ever left in water was 36hrs but that was just to crack seed. Here's those pics I was spoutin' off about. ILGM genetics are the shit, brutha.I'd go directly to soil.
I hear alot of ppl praise ILGM but to each their own. As I said before I'm novice grower but when it comes to germinating seeds I've germinated hundreds of the yrs. Early on I used to order from a place called seedboutique.com. They had great prices & selection & viable seeds. Same with Nirvana & Sensei seeds. This is the 2nd batch I've gotten from ILGM & both batches seem to be duds. I guess time will tell with 2nd batch. I shouldve never listened to support & left seeds in water for 4 days. I moved to soil on germination pad last night. It looks one might break surface but I'm not sure.I tried the paper towel method when I was germinating the girl scout cookies and it finally worked. Probably my fault. I decided to try just soaking the seeds for 24 hours and placing them directly into soil before they even popped. I was getting worried after two days so I VERY carefully removed some of the soil around the seeds to see if anything was happening and was amazed at how long the taproots were. They both were at least 2 inches long. I won't be buying anymore seeds from ILGM or Seedsman. Got seeds from both of them that looked inferior and hardly germinated. So far I'm very impressed with the TT seeds. They are very big with black stripes on them. I'm looking forward to comparing their growth to the GSC.
I had good luck with GSC last yr. Got GSC & Hindu kush from Nirvana & everyone popped. I put them in RO water for about 18 hrs then moved into paper plates/paper towels on germ heat pad for about 48 hrs then moved into rapid rooters once tails were about 3mm & they did great. Tried that with this 1st batch of ILGM & 1 showed tiny tail & rest cracked but no development beyond that. After 8 days I called support. They told me to put back in cup of water for 3 more days since I'd only left them in for about 18 hrs then get back to them. Then they sent replacements & told me to leave in water for 3 to 4 days but said some could take up to a week & it wouldnt hurt seeds. If these dont pop I'm hoping they replace again but I doubt it.I tried the paper towel method when I was germinating the girl scout cookies and it finally worked. Probably my fault.
