Hey all,

First time to chop - are these ready? I feel like I'm seeing some amber, but also some perhaps clear trichomes too? What do you think?

now those are some very fine pictures. without a doubt some of the best i have seen so far. i can only hope to be able to take pictures with such detail at some point. the only other thing that would complete my day would be if i were the one enjoying smoking such beauties. hats off to you!

Nice trichomes! To me they look ready or very close, I can see amber in the buds, I can also see either hair, cloth fluff or, hopefully not, a bit of oidium.

Anyway back to maturity, Northern Lights is a fast flowering plant, let me check how long it usually takes in a second:
So from different banks and probably different genetics the window is around 45-55 days. You can be a few days behind if it had too much stress at some point but they look almost ready yes.

Thank you :) I took another look - the red highlight was a cat hair :(

I took a couple more pics from today, and below the canopy there are a few buds that are very green, but basically aren't receiving light (not enough canopy room). 1st pic from the canopy light level, 2nd pic a bud from below it.

The first bud is clearly more mature than the lower bud, but you can still let it go for a few days without overmaturing the top buds. This is very common with low-medium potency LEDs, some people chop the tops first (this has risks) and some people just let them go a bit longer. If they are not recieving much light I would say dont sacrifice the top buds for that, some of the THCa will convert into THC during drying and curing aswell. I wouldnt go longer than 10-20% amber on the top buds (not counting the leaves), but thats personal preference, I like more of a head high.

Oh and about the cat hair, I feel you, sometimes they get in before the bud starts forming and you find them when youre grinding the bud way deep inside... cats... I have a filter in my intraction fan but still some of them manage to get in when I open to water them or whatever hahaha. Mind that I wash my buds but still, if theyre inside the bud theyre not getting out til you grind it.
