Having grown tropical plants in South Florida for 19 years, I learned a thing or two about dealing with bugs in the bug capital of the world. One of them is garlic powder.

I have twenty Lamb's Breath seedlings in my Northern Virginia backyard. Four of them have been hit by some mysterious leaf skeletonizer. I isolated them by moving all the undamaged ones to the other side of the yard and sprinkled garlic powder lightly on the leaves and soil. That was three days ago and there hasn't been any further damage. Seems northern bugs don't like garlic any more than southern ones. Hope this helps.
