Defoliation in week 4 of flower

Im curious on everyone's opinions. Ive heard positives and negatives but im just not sure about this late in flower. My plants are small as it is but i just dont want much larf or popcorn buds.

Defoliation isn’t quite the same as removing those small buds that won’t ever amount to much, pinch them all off, except the buds closer to the tops, and leave the foliage.

From my understanding week 4 is pretty late to defoliate. Most my research says day 21, but you know what they say about the internet. I'm in day19 from flip, I had to defoliate early this week, I had a jungle going on. Now I just take the leaves blocking the bud sites.
