I grew one of these out in last year's grow thinking it was going to end up an absolutely enormous bud... especially once it started flowering it looked immense! However when it comes to the chop you realise it's made up of mostly stem and crap, and was a massive waste of plant energy and time. I posted on another older thread yesterday as I couldn't find much info on it. I would not say it's a hermie, but more a stress-induced mutation (mine was from topping).
It happened again on my current grow on one of my Strawberry Cough plants and knowing better I chopped the fucker off just below the main concentration of irregular node growth once it had really ground to a halt in terms of growing despite being in the early stretch period of flowering. Now the lower bud sites and remaining ones on the plant should receive significantly more energy and end up better...and two days later it already seems to be the case.
I suppose it's a much more difficult call if it's the main stem as it won't leave as many alternatives. I would still advise topping the main cola once it reaches the appropriate point, or you'll end up with a disappointing return.
I am running two soil scrogs in two seperate tents... growing monsters: 2 x 39l 6 week veg in 1.2x0.8m, and 4 x 30l 6 week veg in 1.2x1.2. Should have switched to 12/12 at 50% screen though as I'm 4 days in and it's at 90%...
I don't feel that strawberry Cough likes to be topped very much, as I have seen the worst regrowth over the two plants I've seen over all my grows. My GG4, Wedding Cake, and Gelato are absolutely thriving however!
Planning to submit a grow journal at some point when I have the time as I have recorded everything throughout with photos if anyone's interested. My last grow I achieved 40oz which equals 1.12g per watt under HPS - that doesn't include the popcorn buds/shake which I smoke with hash, nor the sugar leaf trim I made into bubble hash and achieved 14g. This grow I am aiming and predicting higher as I have tricked out the setup with upgraded humidity control, air flow controllers, air con, CO2 bags, batmix soil, larger containers, fabric pots, and more expertise ;) I am hoping to achieve 50 oz of top notch, so 1.4g per watt, which I think is doable. I know people say that above 1g/w is not generally achievable, but pish.
Anyway sorry for rambling, this is my second post about my grows so it's all rather exciting!
