My "caretakers" sent me some photos today. The plants look good but it sure is sad to not be there with them! The runt is still rather pathetic.

These last two were real tiny when I left, one Purple Kush (foreground) and another Bubblegum...

Looking great and beautiful! I bet you can relax a bit more nowšŸ‘ We hit 109 yesterdayšŸ”„ Hope you and your honey are having a fantastic timešŸ’•

I left a few instructions but overall I did a lot of prep work before leaving; my new soil amendments experiment and the irrigation. It will be over a month still before I get home but currently things appear to be doing ok despite the onset of wicked summer heat there. I will be glad to get home though, I don't really like being away this long!

Try not to worry about them too much or your garden in general. I totally understand how you feel being gone from the homested for so long.

I feel ya, Thanksgiving is the only time I leave... The past 3 yrs growing. But, I took my harvest/curing buckets with me. Haha. Last yr my oldest daughter told me..."Mom there's no smoking pot in the" vacation rental property... I don't know the initials for that. Fine. Her hubby was outside w me everyone, lol.
It's cooled off, 103 and cloudy. No rain.
No surprises.
Enjoy your time away! You're girls look like they're doing fine!!! 🌿

We finally returned home 8/3 and these plants were suffering, in fact, three of them are dead!
We brought my 11 yr old granddaughter back with us so I couldn't really attend to them right away. We took the girl on a "park tour" to Grand Canyon North Rim, Horseshoe Bend, and stayed a night at Lake Powell Resort. Next day we went up to Bryce Canyon NP and then through Zion NP on the way back home. We took her to the Vegas airport yesterday and she went home so now I can finally get back to looking after what's left of these plants.

The plant that had been doing the best (Purple Kush) still looks reasonably good while I believe I can still save the youngest Purple Kush and one of the Bubblegum plants. I'll get busy on it tomorrow.

Glad you had fun w your grandgirl!
But, dude wth happened to the buddy watering your plants? 😭 At least you should be able to save the 2 still living! I hope!
I've been watering here 2x a day! The monsoons haven't arrived in my area, unless 3/8" counts lol.
Hope you can pull them outšŸ¤ž

They were all set up with irrigation but there was obviously a little trouble somewhere. My guy came over once or twice a week but he also had other things to do here and they just needed more attention I guess. I need to get out and check them during a watering cycle and see what's up. I'll go back to hand watering for now but we'll be leaving for an Alaska trip later this month. Perhaps I should have skipped this year but after all it's mostly a hobby even if I suck at it. šŸ˜…

My neighbor, whose job is maintaining the golf course, gave me some fertilizer/feed I'm going to try. Hopefully I can still get something out of the three I think I can save. 🌵. What an adventure!

My bad, I saw the irrigation after I posted. We tried that once but we've got so much caliche (lime deposits) in our water little tubes plugged up fast.
We have to soak every faucet, sprinkler head, hose sprayer, shower head yadda regularly in vinegar.
Oh boy! Alaska!! What a fun trip that'll be!! I could put off a hobby or two for that kind of a trip 🄰
These plants take a lot of care so I wouldn't say you suck at it . Your just absent. And for great reasons! Party on Dude āœŒļø

Yes our water is also very hard, pH runs between 8 & 9, maybe even higher at times. When I hand water I lalways add vinegar, aprox. 30ml per bucket to get it down to 6.5/6.6.
When growing indoors I always used our RO water.

I'm with ya brother! I'm starting to figure out I'm spending more on ROE water than I want to. Or might be able to later on.
It's insane outdoor ROE water usage. $$$ big bucks. I'v used all household quarter savings. LOL
Using CalSil now when I have to use de-clorinated tap water these days. Happy Trails!

Sorry I haven't had much time to spend on the board here. It's been a summer with some ups and downs but mostly ups fortunately. I was gone for nearly two months (June & July) and now have only recently come home from a trip to Alaska. Due to my extensive absences my plants suffered and out of six it looks like I may only have two that can make it to harvest.

How about some pics? Let’s see just how bad it is!šŸ˜†

Oh my gosh, like old Chucky... I wanna see pics! I wanna see if I'm taken away for some length of time what I possibly might return tošŸ‘€šŸ„°
I'm trying to get it together to post pics tomorrow. Beat me to it, please šŸ˜ āœŒļø

I'll throw up a couple pics tomorrow but not much to see. The long and short of it is that the two Purple Kush have endured while the four Bublegum dried up and died. These were the only seeds I had and were provided by my friends who purchased from HGC.

Plants were in light colored 15/25 gal bags with good soil and irrigated but summers here 70 miles up from Las Vegas on I-15 at the AZ border are really brutal. My friends came by once or twice a week while I was gone but it's difficult to provide significant instructions from a long distance.

Although I fumbled a lot last year with newbie stupidity I did have reasonable success because I was around to tend to them. I haven't decided yet whether I'll try indoors again this fall.

This PK was always the strongest and fastest which allowed me to do some topping and TLC back before we left..

It obviously needs some TLC but is clearly my best hope to finish.

This other PK suffered greatly and we'll see if it can pull through..

The four Bubblegums were shriveled up, dried out and have already been pulled. I gave my wife the go ahead to put in a tomato plant in one bag..

You can sort of tell from the photos that weeds have taken over in our "ag" area. There is much work to do there this fall. Having been gone so much there are a lot of other things around the house screaming for attention also.

Meanwhile I'm also still trying to get over a cold that started to set in near the end of our Alaska trip. That really complicated my life because we had a tight performance schedule upon our return. We returned to the Vegas airport around midnight on Wednesday the 2nd and then had to perform a band gig at the Iron County Fair in UT early Friday evening. We got there and setup and honestly, when I stepped up to the microphone I wasn't sure if anything was going to come out! I guess I went on auto-pilot, did ok and we went over quite well fortunately. It was tough and then the next day my wife and I had to do a duo gig locally. It was a really tough couple of days but you don't cancel unless you're dead or in the hospital. I haven't died yet but have cancelled in the past due to hospitalization after my horrific motorcycle crash.

Anyway, now I've got time to relax, get healed up, look after what's left of these plants and get some other things done!

The first one is still fighting! Get in there and clean out all of that yellow shit and see what is left!šŸ‘

I've been trying to help these two plants out a bit.... they're not the greatest but they're budding and look like they'll both produce some. Given my extensive absence I'll be happy with whatever I can get hahah.
