You could turn it off and just hook the lines to air stones instead or just shut it off completly i guess.. I dont. I let it run constantly! And thats the only way for me!

Thats why i use drip rings and a air pump. I have no water pump. It works off of air...

This is my girls. They turned 3 weeks old today. The system is cheap to run and works great. no pump no mess ever from clogged lines
