Designing new run.

My Dad always told me, Proper Prior Planning Prevents Piss Poor Performance. Ever since I setup my last room I have been plotting and planning. Right now I am in a bit of a quandry over whether to run 4k (all HPS) or 5k (4 HPS and 1 MH).

My room dimensions are 12 x 12 and I am just a bit concerned that running 5k might get too crowded in the room.

I have a few questions in here and I will do my best to keep my ADD down and not jump around too much.

So I plan on growing trees and doing vertical lighting in a diamond pattern.

4k would be like this.

x=1 plant in a 13 gallon tub
X=2 plants in a 27 gallon tub
O= 1000 watt HPS

5k would be something like this

x=1 plant in a 13 gallon tub
X=2 plants in a 27 gallon tub
O= 1000 watt HPS
M= 1000 watt Metal Halide

So for all you experienced tree growers out there. Do you think I'd have enough room to do the 5 light layout?

I'm planning on running cool tubes and the other question I have is what size fan would I need to keep all 4 or 5 lights cooled off a bit.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

First let me start by saying I have hardly any growing experience firsthand. But I have read TONS, here and other sites, and IMO I think the 5 light layout would be waaaay too crowded for trees.

Experience wise I’m in the same boat as aSilvHaze but IMO I don’t think you should waste your time running a single 1K MH. All your plants wont benefit from the spectrum it offers if your looking four some blue I would stick to 4K layout and switch out your bulbs for some Hortilux bulbs. That’s just my personal opinion, good luck bro.
