Disappointing test smoke during chop down.

I've been growing 3 photo Maui Wowie plants in soil as my 2nd "real" grow . I have been monitoring the trichomes and they were good for chopping down the plant which I did. Probably 5-10% amber trichomes.
I broke off a small bud and put it under a light bulb. Once dry I lit it up. It's effect was less than expected and less than the Purple Kush I did last grow (which is almost GONE! ) is a kick in the boys. Maui? Not so much.
Is it possible that the high might improve after drying?

Not sure what breeder you bought from but that strain from MSL is listed at 15% THC content. And North American Seed agreed at 15%.
