I apologize for not keeping this thread current but so much bull shit/ignorance has over flooded these forums. It seems every stoner with a turkey baster is now a bho scientist.

I'm not referring to this thread specifically, but I'm done with this shit. Good luck to anybody attempting to start making bho, hopefully this thread and some of my input will help you out.

You're setup looks awesome and so does your oil!! Thanks for the props...I reread this entire forum and it made me feel a little proud to see all the kind words people have given me. Not to mention everybody that actually used my info to create their own DIY setup.

I've got plenty o pics of oils and hash I've created over the last couple years.

I'd most likely be waiting on an expensive ass chamber to come via mail only to find out it leaks, won't hold a vac and the vessel and/or lid would be a p.o.s

If it were not for finding you via Google, I picked your tutorial as all the rest did not meet my standard.

Also, I loved the idea of the multiple sheets of nice cheap acrylic lexan bolted together.

That alone saved me about 80$ , the absolute most expensive part of a vac setup aside the pump.

Agian thanks for the kind words... I actually don't have a vac setup right know. I've made 5 but have sold them all to close friends. I'm gonna build another one soon but I'm planning something big. I've got access to a 55 gallon SS barrel that I'm gonna chop up then use a 1" 4x4' piece of lexan and the biggest f-ing pump I can find(I believe I've seen a 12cfm). I've got several growing buddies into bho now so were planning to make 100g plus batches.

In the mean time I'll probably build another small setup since I've got a ton of trim in the freezer.

Damn, yeaaaaahh some serious oiling there brother.

If you can figure a means of pulling off 100 gram + runs, please share your experience!!

I've seem some ounces of oil, but 100 + in one batch is pushing the envelope...

Bend that fucking envelope brother!!!

You will probably be good with about 8-10 gallon vessel, I recommend investing into a Yellow Jacket for your Vacuum desires.

They are top of the line in HVAC industry.

They are worth every penny IMO, from personal testimonials from my” virtual” BHO brethren across different forums.

If you want a pump that will do ounces of oil and that pump to last, go with Yellow Jacket.

Even used, these pumps are coveted in the HVAC industry.

My apologies if you are already aware of this.

I see some problems with that big of a batch.

Not to mention...

What if something were to go wrong on that giant batch??
Hard to cope with the loss of a QP of oil.

Please do not take this as criticism or discouragement...

I speak with genuine concern bro. Hate to see something go wrong on a that big of an investment.

It may take longer, but I suggest doing about one ounce of finished oil at a time, much more manageable.
Maybe build yourself multiple chambers, maybe each grower invests in a good pump to correlate with said chambers???

I've got friends willing to blast lbs of buds... Good bho sells for $60+(Per gram) in my area and with a 20-30% return using buds, well just do the math. 100g might be pushing it but if I can pull of 50ish gram runs that's still good.

Your concerns are spot on there's a lot of financial risk when making lots of hash. And a QP mishap would be awful ( I've lost about a half ounce and that was horrible). On the other hand I'm use to making 20-30 gram runs so I don't think 50-100 would be any more difficult... It's just gonna take a longer.

And the total volume of my big setup will be around 30 gallons. If anybody has seen a bigger DIY chamber I'd love to see it.

Ahhh....

There is a product out there that comes in a roll....

It is Platinum Cured and it is approved to use to blast directly on one time and one time only.

It is called the Slick Sheet, in a roll.

It is produced by the same company that produces the Oil Slick Pad...

These are two separate products, the sheet is approved for one use ...

The pad is strictly for the final purge of your oil.

It's gonna be a long endeavor... I currently have sooo many things going on. I'm finishing my bachelor, I'm working insane hours at my intern job, plus I'm a financial/working partner in my friends mechanic shop. ...blah blah right. I do plan on having the monster rig running before May tho. I might have to use multiple pumps, but I also haven't looked into industrial type pumps yet.

I really think one bad ass pump will work Glab, unless you want to have multiple pumps.

I am obsessed with oil making, and I have just under a pound of material that fellow growers and friends have given to me for processing. The yield is ideally split 50/50.

I myself only have a 2.5 gal chamber, so there is no way I could run the entire lb at once.

However, this didn't stop me from dreaming about purging a friggen QP of oil. ;) :) haha.

And I RE-read that 30 gal vessel..

First off great job on the thread its got me setting up for my first run. Since I have manifold guages alreadt similar to the pic above Im only going to need one hole in the lid right? Let me know if using these would cuase any problems u can think of

Only one hole is necessary my friend.

And just a little tip,
If I were to start over, I would drill the hole through the sidewall of your vessel as opposed to the lid.

I have to kinda bob n weave my head around to keep an eye on the oil while in the chamber as my ball valve assembly is obstructing my view.

I also noted a very slight deflection in the layered lexan, that being said, the excessive force of the vacuum is stressing that lexan directly at the insertion hole drilled out to accommodate the hose barb.
^ a large washer would be ideal if you really want to put the valve assembly through the lid.

That setup of hoses and gauges are beautiful!! My next DIY chamber , I plan on using the quick release brass fittings, just so sexy looking..lol.....not to mention the ease of the quick release.

^ if you take any of the above suggestions, the one about going through the side-wall of your chamber instead of the lid is the most beneficial IMO.

Edit: The ideal location of your hole would be about 2-2.5 ” below the rim of the chamber.
