do you test your coco ec and ph ??? is so how and why.

so im kinda new to coco. running pure coco DTW. keeping my ec at 1.0 to 1.5 and ph at 5.8 to 6.0. im using canna coco they suggest testing the coco via the 1:1.5 method. so i did that and it says my ph is like 5.3 and an ec of 1.7 so i am a little confused, are those the accurate levels? if so are they something i need to worry about? if this is also so then what route would be the best fix?

I'm using canna right now. I just went for it keeping my nutrients at your given ph levels. Haven't had any problems yet. your medium should adjust but I know some folks presoak coco like rockwool to get the ph levels right first. i'm not sure you need too do that with canna, however.

I have been using Botanicare ready grow moisture formula coco. I just wet it with 5.8 PH'd low PPM water before planting and have not had a problem. It comes in at PH 6.3 - 6.5 runoff and around 500 PPM's. I bet your good to go once your normal feeding schedule has kicked into gear.

"Unlike with soil, checking the pH in the root zone by testing runoff is not very telling with coco, because the elements that bind to coco will not be at the same concentration in runoff as they are in the root zone.

To test the pH levels your plants’ roots are dealing with, take about a 1-ounce sample of moist – not dripping wet — coco out of a container, stir it with 2.5 ounces of distilled water and measure the pH after the mixture has rested for about 20 minutes."

yep thats what i did. my runoff is fine but the substrate levels are kinda out of whack. ive given them 2 flushes with 5.8 ph and .5-.6 ec runoff is 6.1 ph and .9-1.0 ec im at about week 4.5 so ill be flushing soon anyways. just hoping that those numbers arent going to f up my est. yield .

Your runoff EC will almost always be a bit higher, as long as it's within .6 (if I recall correctly) then you're good... Cocoforcannabis.com is a great site that I highly recommend for info on growing with coco.
