Hey guys, Does this plant seem ready for harvest yet? Most of hairs have turned brown, calyxes nice & swollen,& most trichomes seem to be milky. The damn electric microscope I have for checking trichomes isn’t the best so it’s constantly going blurry so it’s hard to get a good look at trichomes but from what I can see some are amber & a lot are milky. I like to go for the couch lock buzz so I try to get a lot of amber. Do you guys think I should harvest today or give it a few more days? Any & all advice greatly appreciated!

Ah, here's some more context.

I think you're good to chop man. You're probably gonna be tempting it with the cool temperatures coming in - they stop growing at ~50ºF and you don't want them to frost.

Very nice job!

Thanks,it’s been mostly cold weather since late sept.& early oct.here. It’s been bouncing from days as high as 70 & lower highs of around 50s. Late at night it’s been in 40s & as low as 37f. At those real cold nites I’ve been covering at nite & uncovering around 7am. For the next 3 days it’s highs around 70 & lows as low as 45f.

Nice - sounds like you know what you're doing.
If the cold or disease (mold/rot) isn't threatening it, you could go a little longer to get more of those amber trichomes.
I'm usually forced to harvest outdoors a little underripe or I risk losing a lot; so I tend err on the side of caution if the trichs are all milky/some amber and the plant looks mostly ripe otherwise.

Same here, cold weather usually dictates when I can harvest sometimes but this plant has been handling the cold like a champ! Also just playing it by ear. Have grown outdoors long enough to know a little bit a lot is due to the great info given by people on here.

It really is!
What strain/variety are you growing?
I'm over in SE PA, so I'm guessing our climates are pretty similar. Would love something so cold hardy.

Yeah I’m NE Ohio & 10 mins away from Pa border so I’m sure are climates are pretty much the same. This was a clone I got off a buddy that I started late. I’ll have to ask him what it is. From what I can tell it’s predominantly sativa which I usually stray from but he says it’s does fine outdoors here. He actually harvested over a wk.ago but like I said I started mine late. Usually I grow pure to predominant indicas but I’m impressed with this strains hardiness in cold weather. I actually grew some Hindu Kush last yr & one went hemaphrodite on me from cold & stress!

Gotta say I love how the buds & leaves have turned dark purple to almost black from the cold temps. Gonna look pretty cool after harvest & curing!
