Does topping more than once increase yield?

Our yields have been... pretty bad. Not even sure what the yield on an indoor photo should be if done well.

But... we've been lollipopping and topping once. Should we try topping twice? Someone suggested that to me and says it will give more weight if you top 2-3 times but no more.

Is that true? How many times should we top and how much weight should be expected off a well grown indoor photo?
I only pinch once (top) to control the height. I fertilize using a time release fertilizer with trace. Also my growing medium has mycorrhizae pro mix #4. Nutrients play a big part for plant size. I also give the seedlings a couple shots of liquid fertilizer before I transplant to the finish pots. Just saying!

All soil pots must have worms. You don't dislike worms do you? I mean lol, who'd be anti-worm. Cfin's pots sound VERY nice for a few worms, and after all they self control the population and never try to take over anything. So worms are our friends. I'd think about some worms.

I'm in the camp that believes that topping a plant does not increase yield. What it does is redistribute that same yield from one location to several locations. I grow outside and top all my plants once. Some plants will be topped a second time if necessary. Any plant that has been topped will require a longer veg period. They need a few days to recover from the temporary stunting, and then you want to veg them longer to realize the gains from being topped. The reasons that I top my plants are: 1) To avoid excessively large main colas that are susceptible to mold. 2) To minimize larf, and 3) To control height, because not everyone can get away with 12 foot tall plants in their backyard. I think Welcome to the Grow Tent on YouTube has good videos explaining the how and when of topping plants.

Here’s an example currently in my garden. I just cut the supplemental lighting yesterday, so today is their first day of flower. When a plant has 4 nodes and is working on its fifth, I top it above the 3rd node. I also remove the first node at the same time. I end up with only 4 branches off of the main stalk. Those 4 will end up being about the same height. Where I cut will be stunted for a bit allowing the lowers to catch up. I end up with 4 tops and an open center structure. Easy-peasy to manage for me.

U should apply LST to that. Open it up to more vertical branching.

Tie the top two branches down, let the lower two catch up. Then watch it bush out.

Yeah...then there's fimming. A mistake made during topping that I've done accidently. Just to be a effin male. 😡. It is a neat way to grow, though. Just don't trust myself to get it accurately.

Fuck, I missed my miss.
I had one grew a 9 fingered mohawk. Can not find that pic.. total miss. Would have been better after that started growing was too top it but was my first grow and just had to see the thing grow.

Just to expand the whole topping discussion, it was an eye opener for me the day I learned not to use tops for cloning and instead use an upper section of branch with the top removed. It speaks to the same ambition of breaking apical dominance through hormone disruption and forces the plant to stop what it was doing on top for a minute and with no growth path above and no growth path below, it's forced to create one by throwing roots. They'll still root with tops but they can take longer, because for a little while the cutting has something it can do... keep growing the top.

I get the most entertainment out of my derps and monsters for the same reason... I have to have a front row seat for what that crazy plant might do!

What, nobody wants to talk about fimming in this thread???
First of all, that's NSFW and potentially terrorist.

I think, but am not welded to, the theory that nothing changes.
Taking or leaving larf, lollipopping, topping, any of it.
It's absolutely indefensible, there is anecdotal evidence otherwise, I "like" to top mine for the most part.
But unless it's stress response, increasing light, changing feed, respiration change, gene splicing, or some freak growing method... Allah has foretold the harvest.
Of course it's equally likely not to be right either.
And yet...
