Hmmm, there are other concerns than just pythium... Such as brown algae, incompatible slams of multiple additives in the mix, skewed nutrient profiles, poor pH and PPM management, etc... :thinking

In any event it seems like DD has his MPB figured out... Let's hope more MPB users can have similar success instead of the trend of failures... :nod

LOL, that made me rofl. But I think the failures are due to people not understanding the system. They throw it together and hope to get results like DD without having a comprehensive strategy to deal with all the complications that can occur in this unique strategy of having roots sitting in water non stop.

I think DDs MPB's is amazing. Going to edit my above post because it came off like I dont like RDWC. But really I just agree with you that people need to UNDERSTAND the system before they build it and hope to get results like DD.

Which honestly I don't understand where the failures are coming from he lays out which nutes to use, how to put the system together, and how to run it, practically the only thing he hasn't done for you is physically put it together and grow your plants. I have just gone with exactly what DD's has put out for us to read and it produced 3+ lbers right out of the shoot. I only lost yield when I did tweaking to the system that was never recommended by DD's. I learned from this and quickly went back to his layout and style of running things. I do have a couple differences in what I use for my system, little things such as cycle timer on my top feed rather than 24/7, but I feel that doesn't play too big of a roll in loss or gain of yields. JMO

I do feel that this system isn't for beginners so if you are jumping into a MPB grow for your first grow, Good luck!

Don't want to hurt anyones feelings but, with so many MPB failures out there, why so many folks experiment with DD's formula is a mystery to me. It makes sense to experiment after you have had success with the system.

I've wondered if it could be as simple a thing as DD's use of tap water, instead of R/O. The chlorine in the tap water during rez changes could kill whatever is causing the brown root funk.

These MPB failures are like auto accidents, I'm compelled to slowdown and look, but its makes me very sad.:sad0071:

Giddeon, you read my mind... I agree and alluded to the devil being in the details... Run it stock and then tweak after the system is nearly dialed-in... That's what I'm doing in my Under Current... :cool

I dont understand it myself widowmaker, people talk about tweaking but the system i put online is already heavily tweaked. Approx. 4 years of tweaking. This system is so easy to use i find it unimaginable that sooo many peeps are having problems. The only person i personally helped that has failed was northone here at the farm, he gave up after 2 tries and went back to his method. Everyone else here at home hasnt had any problems at all. If you read the threads about 1st time grower... He just finished his 6th grow without any root problems. He did exactly what i told him and he's been golden.

btw widowmaker, his water is well water with a 250ppm count, my water is 70 ppm. You would have thought he would have had problems but no, he's doing real good.

i wish everybody would get it going well

I have just finished my 3rd run. And have yielded 2#'s per with GDP.

Its all good on my end.
Glad to see you're still around.
The 55 gallon drum I get for 15$. So price dictated shape. Its got about 45 gallons of nutes in the mini rez.
I will post a thread when I get this round started.
Here is a pic of my 3rd run. They are GDP in weak 3 or 4 of flower.

lol so soon im gonna have another room, was really thinking about coco but then id have to learn a whole new medium...

RDWC really is fairly simple and makes most sense to me/easy to run/flush ect... i was able to pull it off on my first ever grow, and this second one is gonna be fucking killer. the room almost runs itself.

Keep in mind there are a few of us out there, killing the mpb, who don't have active journals ;) The mpb's that failed for the most part always drifted from the dds blueprint or had environmental, mechanical, or genetic issues. The biological diseases were more than likely the result of an equipment or sanitation failure. If your an experienced grower and follow dds lead, you can do really well given the right genetics. But if your inexperienced and somehow stray from his blueprint, be prepared for headaches.

I think chrome makes a damn good point, I had no real problems either, it wasn't spot on a dds system, just kinda mashup of everyones systems here that was popping off at the time.. looks most like a lost/billy liar tub/dds tub.

but anyways yah, no major problems.

didnt cement any of the pvc i just stuck it on, ran 3 mpbs, had 18 places where it connected and not one leak, had some weird mold like build up at the top of the pipes where the water was not in contact, but the roots looked stellar.
And since they were not glued on I would take off every three weeks or so and clean them.

but with everyone doing something different, makes problem solving/troubleshooting harder I think... with a UC everyone pretty much has the exact same thing.. unless they do some mods or upgrade airpump/stones...

mpbs most everyone was using different tubing, fittings, tubs, etc..

I bet anything his last run the only problem was that damn Toxic ngw tubing he had..

I am having a problem keeping the rh in the 40% range. The a/c is sucking more moisture than the plants are putting out. Its 60% when the lights turn on and 25% after 12 hours. Doesnt seem to be affecting anything negatively though. Temp is a constant 75 degrees measured with a probe thermometre.

I think these types of thermometer use the temperature as a reference in measuring the RH.

Hi S, it still has not been manufactured yet, there is some sticking points that have to be worked out.

Here we are at day 47 of 83. They are blowing up beyond my wildest beleifs. There is a total of 63 zip ties holding up branches. WOW

Without further ado

Amazing results so far farmers. I dropped the a/c temp to 64 degrees so during lights out it gets nice n cold in there.
