DD's looking good! Nugs are super chunky and looking ready for the Overdrive.

I'm thinking the 44" x 44" x 12" 70 gal res is whats is going to work best for me when I switch it up. Still keep my 48" centers.

lol, was that in the picture? lol If your talking about the thermostat on the wall there is a bulb spewing light right onto it so its reading higher, i only use that for the rh. I am having a problem keeping the rh in the 40% range. The a/c is sucking more moisture than the plants are putting out. Its 60% when the lights turn on and 25% after 12 hours. Doesnt seem to be affecting anything negatively though. Temp is a constant 75 degrees measured with a probe thermometre.

I visited a room with 20 - 6ft plants yesterday and his room humidity is running 74% lights on and 65% lights off...... Thats with 3- 3 ton a/c units (bigger than mine) and 3 - 70 pint dehumidifiers and 1 - dri eaz 220 pint industrial dehumidifier, all running 24/7. Those 20 plants are drinking 85 gallons every 24 hour period. Every garden seems to have there problems.

Everything is exactly the same except the bigger res's, 60L to 50 gallon.

Hi Mary

I really dont use anything. An excellent chiller is really the key to not having any root problems. If your chiller is set to 62 degrees and can run the whole 12 hours and not climb any more than 2 degrees than your perfect. If this is not the case YOU WILL GET ROOT ROT sooner or later and probably many times. Pythium cant grow in nute solution under 65 or 66 degrees so if we keep our water colder than it just cant happen.... period.

Now lets talk about the different seasons, temp. of rooms. If your garden is in the basement then your not going to have the same problems as people with above ground gardens. Mine are all above ground. In the summer, late spring and early fall the air passing through my outdoor a/c condensers is warm, can be up to 80 degrees farenheit. I cant run nearly as many lights (about 10 1000 watt lights less) at this time as i can early spring, winter and late fall where the average temp during sundown would be minus 5 degrees farenheit.

This translates to a warmer grow room, alot warmer chiller room and when your chiller doesnt have cold air running through it it doesnt perform nearly as well and your water is going to get warmer. So the different seasons are going to play havoc on water temp and if you didnt shell out for the biggest chiller then your probably not going to have much success in the warmer months. I have battled with the summer for many years now and have finally decided to install a 2.5 ton friedrich a/c unit in my chiller/resevoir/lightboard and ballast room. I need to keep that room under 65 degrees or i have big problems.

As far as i am concerned with many years of expierience, the chiller is the most important piece of equipment there is..... PERIOD. Knowing what your chiller is doing, how its running and understanding how a chiller works is the 2nd most important step.

So with the h20 temp at 62 degrees you have no slowing of growth?( it obviously doesnt look that way from your grow!) ... I have always kept my chiller running around 67 to 68 degrees. I was under the impression that 62 was too cold and that dissolved o2 was much lower. Can you confirm that 62 is optimal for growth with no pythium problems.. Also how low can the h20 temp go before shocking the plants... Thanks in advance for your answer. and apologies if you have answered it before.

The lowest i have gone, not by choice by cold weather is 59 degrees. I had absoltely no problems with amazing growth. This is what gave me the idea to keep the res so low and i have not had a problem in over 2 years. Remember, with rdwc you have as much water out in your system (inside all your mpb's) as you have in your main res. The water in the mpb's in gonna be 2 or 3 degrees warmer than your main res. if you set your chiller to 68 than your mpb's are gonna be 71-72. We set our res to 62 and it will be 64,65 in the mpb's.

the buckets in my room is always the same temp as the res...
there is also a plant in a 5 gal bucket with a pump to swirl the water around and an airstone and its kicking ass. my dad just pours a gallon or two from the res into each day. not sure what the temp is at but its not too warm the plant is still thriving.

i am doing a 1 mother station with one bucket. i would like just to do 1 bucket with no res or if its that important i can make a res.

also how do you keep the chiller at 62 degrees? on a temp stat or something?
