yea I generally always run multiple strains, but I guess in this style of system that could be a problem as well...as they will want different foods...but hopefully not to bad. I have heard from everyone with these rdwc systems they want lower ppm then any other style, so im planning to go lighter and if one (prob the modified macberry moonshine) is hungry, then such is life. If it gives me to my trouble ill prob go down to one strain or something idk. will play it by earGot my popcorn ready for this one!
You are brave running 4 different strains on your first hydro grow!
I am currently building a 4 plant RDWC to expand what I have been doing. Going to run 4 clones from the same mother to simplify things. I think once I get this grow behind me I am going to try multiple strains. Will definitely take my grows to a new level when I master the art of the middle ground between plants that want more and plants that want less.
I am sure you are vastly more familiar with your strains than I am with the strains I grow/will grow so you will be much more prepared to pair them together with strains that play well together....something to consider anyhow.
I reckon it will b more one strain stretching more than the other giving you an uneven canopy.I still get uneven running all the same lol..luckily I can lengthen or shorten the legs to suit.you might have to top or crop them Jeff..yea I generally always run multiple strains, but I guess in this style of system that could be a problem as well...as they will want different foods...but hopefully not to bad. Yea definitely a learning curve, especially with something that reacts fast. I suspect Im going to be asking a lot of questions!Ya know, I had read at one point that different strains can have very different nutritional needs. TBH, I thought that was a bunch of malarkey. However, when I started hydro I saw it for myself. It's absolutely true.
Your Mac Dragon has pretty consistently wanted feedings on the light side of the GH recommendations, flowered pretty much at 600 ppm most of the way through. I think I hit her ceiling during veg at about 1000 ppm (likely the real ceiling was less than 1000 but that is where I noticed the leaf tip burn) but if I remember right she fed light most of the way through veg and then continued that trend through flower.
I recently started a new grow from clone of a strain called Mendel's Aether and wow, what a difference. It's always best to be conservative with the nutrients until you find out what the gal can take, so that is what I have been doing. 5 weeks in and slow increases in nute levels and I think I am finally in her zone at the aggressive nute level of 1200 ppms....and she still looks hungry! I think once I get more experienced this process will not take nearly as long.
I think you're in luck. Go back and check the thread.Posted in ur old thread. Any Orangutan? Restock soon? Thanks
I think you will be fine, you have tons of experience growing, just a slightly different style. RDWC will be faster at reacting to change, and seems to me you have better control than soil, and definitely organic soil. I'm sure you can find a sweet spot.
Are you going sterile or live?

I would say it's for a live system as they say to never use H2O2, but I also do not see any beneficial bacteria additives like hydroguard. It's a mystery to me.
Just my 2 cents for what it's worth, personally, after my experience with AN, I would stay away from this. If I had listened to Moe back when I bought the AN, I would not have had any of the issues I had on my first grow trying to go bigger and better than GH.
Not saying these won't work, they might be stellar. I am just gun shy after my experience going through the same decisions you are now making.
All this reminded me of an experience when I was a child. My mom and aunt gave me and my cousin some $ to go to the store and buy a balsa wood airplane and go to the park and fly them. I remember my cousin got this plain looking glider, but I wanted all the bells and whistles, so I got the one with the rubber band wind up propeller, super cool right?. We went to the park and my cousin had this great time with this plane that would fly a loooong ways, do loop-de-loops, all the cool stuff! Mine was a POS and I had a terrible time because the thing just did not work. For whatever reason, that inner child in me still wants to rear it's ugly head, I did that when Moe recommendd GH (cool glider), but I just had to have the wind up propeller....same result, different decade, lol.
As a side note, that airplane I bought took all the money my mom gave me, I barely had enough. My cousin had money left over for candy. I do remember he shared his candy with me but not his glider, lol.
I'm using Jacks now and pretty damn happy. GH is just really easy, and you can predictably help folks.Yea I feel ya 100%, my hang up - GH is all owned by Monsanto, and I try to avoid giving them money if I can. That and I've smoked several of my cuts grown with GH and I personally felt like they were missing the uniqueness / something was missing from the flower. could be it was just that example from the grower, or something in their system they did off or not perfect...And Im sure I may change my mind before I pull the trigger - still in the debating stages. I just keep going back to cannabjornson on IG, and love how his system / plants / vibe seems to be, and the vegaflora he swears by, says the ph is super stable. But I also know - what works for one person, and what will work for me, may not be the same thing. Many decisions to make for sure...
have you been able to compare smoke tests jacks vs GH yet? Id be very curious to hear of your comparison?I'm using Jacks now and pretty damn happy. GH is just really easy, and you can predictably help folks.
