I got the screens on Amazon for a little over a hundo. The glove rubbing against the screens creates static that holds the trichs to the nitrile glove, you use a card to gently move the material around on the first 3 screens, then the glove the separate the trichs from the plant matter on the last screen, that's how you get almost entirely trich heads to get a full melt for a temple ball. You can't manually separate the stuff cause the plant matter is in tiny pieces by that point. Watch through some of GNick's videos earlier in this thread, he explains it better.

Thank you.......yeah this seems like something I should watch some videos for. Could you tell us what exactly you bought (kind of screens, material, hole sizes....). Or is there a particular brand that has a complete proper set? Sorry if it's something you already mentioned......

Also, it wasn't a QP I was ever going to smoke, larf, trim, shake from about a year and 3 months ago that I saved for butter... until I discovered making hash lol.

Sure..... ;). I wasn't gonna use the best tops for it. Do I assume the material should be bone dry? Like I said I will definitely watch the videos.

Nick has a bunch at the beginning of this thread and I also watched DankDuchess on YouTube at his suggestion... kind of combining thier two techniques and doing what I think works, like everything else, it's a learn more as you go type thing.
Here are the exact ones I bought, if the link will work, if not I'll take a screenshot for you.

Aluminum Screen Printing Screens, 20 x 24 Inch Pre-Stretched Silk Screen Frames, Dry Sift Screen Set of 4, Polyester mesh Screen, 60 90 110 200 Mesh, Micron Equiv 250 165 149 75 https://a.co/d/alQ2RqT

Yes bone dry. I froze my weed to help this heads break and processed it out on my porch in the cold. Doesn't look like link worked...

Dunno why the description micron size doesn't match the pic, but the description are the sizes I got. 60, 90, 110, 200.

What's the science or experience on this? Curing hash? Flower needs to be cured, but does pressed resin require further curing? Ives always thought that once resin is separated and collected, especially if pressed/crushed, that that's as good as it gets and now the clock is ticking on it breaking down. It can certainly be preserved well..........light, air, and heat being the culprits of degredation, but what makes pressed/crushed resin.BETTER by aging it? Assuming of course that the weed you make it from is already well cured......

Got it, thank you......I don't lnow what it means by "Micron Equivalent", but I'll have to learn about them, but sizes 60, 90, 110, 200 are the best numbers?

It's probably their stock photo for all sizes they sell.....but yeah it should match up, it can confuse people. You obviously have success with this brand, I don't know if there's a better one, but i can at least start with this one.

@GNick55 do you happen to know what conditions are best for curing a temple ball, like temperature wise? Same as buds? Cooler? I honestly don't think this one will last past February, that's my goal for my tolerance break, but for future reference... I plan on making a big mama of a ball now that I know I can do it... like the ones at the dispo that were going for almost 5 hundo... I imagine it will require about a pound or more... luckily I have a tote plus a cooler full of stuff destined for better things... I don't see me becoming so hard up that I need to roll blunts of larf... but honestly, my larf might be better than some people's outdoor best in show, shit smelled delicious, it's all been in jars all this time.

I think people use a variety of sizes, some people only use one or two screens. Micron equivalent is because they're comparing to bubble hash sift bags I think, these are actually intended for screenprinting, like shirts and such. Also, I'm a total newbie... Nick is the hash guru!

I believe the curing of hash is mainly a temple ball, or full melt hash thing, because you're melting the resin glands, or heads, they all meld together and the flavors become more complex and such, I think it even breaks down some of the tiny bits of plant matter left too. Like my stuff is several different strains, so smashing them all together and waiting will result in a different flavor... kinda like how food develops more flavor if it's cooked over a long period... maybe that's a stupid analogy. Look up temple balls, ancient technique, the original concentrate really... I find it fascinating.

Yeah there are more high quality ones I'm sure, figured this was a good place to start since I was basically clueless when I ordered them lol.

It's a fine analogy.....I just wonder if the science is really there. The flavors may blend well enough just by the nature of them being pressed together. Is there an aging/curing upside for hash? And is there a downside? (the degradation of THC). Of course, if it's wrapped well, kept in the dark, cool temperature.......degradation would be very slow, but is that curing? I am familiar with the history of various hashes, charas, etc.....I don't know what their reasons were for aging it, maybe it was more about storing it for the future, or transportation, or if next year they had crop failure.......

It would be interesting to sample 2 identical balls (don't even...... ;) ), one immediately after it's made, and one aged/cured.

The Science is there. Google Frenchy Cannoli. Here is one place that has some of Frenchy’s writings. https://www.edrosenthal.com/the-gur...st-art-of-the-temple-balls-by-frenchy-cannoli

The traditional way is with live resin from living plants, so curing is probably more beneficial in that instance.

I think we understand more about why the flower/plant needs to be cured.......at least I do, than what happens to the resin. Chlorophyl, the grassy/hay smell, harshness to smoothness......it's all about curing the plant. But what happens to the resin when buds are cured? Terpenes improve? That's certainly a plus, but what else happens, chemically, to the resin during curing?

I have and their is a huge noticeable difference. Especially in texture. The outside becomes a hard protective shell. When you cut it open it’s like a cream filled ball of goodness. Here is one when made and then the exact same ball one year later. I have another one that is at 14 months and counting.

they, who i don’t know but are still trying to figure it all out.. one thing with storing hash is the cannabiniods will destroy all contaminate over time..
hashish tested from yrs ago before westerners got to giving the farmers there better seeds has been test with as low as 0% thc with % levels of only cbd cbn.. and everything in between..
if you can find this book somewhere it’s a great read

did you use a lighter around the outside when you were near done with it, that will help create a seemless full melt “skin”..
