You have to catch them when there's just a little bit of moisture left, so when you start the cure you've got enough moisture to let the buds "sweat" and moisten again.......you'll have get the feel of that, but if you did over-dry (and I agree, don't worry if you lose smell, or still get the kind of hay/dried grass smell, the curing process will change, transform, bring about good smells again...), but if you've over-dried, get some pieces of apple peel, or shaved carrot.........just enough to put in the curing jar to help re-moisten......be careful, not too much or for too long. Check on it and once the buds are re-moistened a little, resume the curing without it....None of the small stems are snapping yet however they feel crisp dry all the way through ..well 3 of them do one seems the way you describe ....planning on glass jarring and airing every 2 -3 hours for half hour a time , around 2 weeks hopefully
