None of the small stems are snapping yet however they feel crisp dry all the way through ..well 3 of them do one seems the way you describe ....planning on glass jarring and airing every 2 -3 hours for half hour a time , around 2 weeks hopefully
You have to catch them when there's just a little bit of moisture left, so when you start the cure you've got enough moisture to let the buds "sweat" and moisten again.......you'll have get the feel of that, but if you did over-dry (and I agree, don't worry if you lose smell, or still get the kind of hay/dried grass smell, the curing process will change, transform, bring about good smells again...), but if you've over-dried, get some pieces of apple peel, or shaved carrot.........just enough to put in the curing jar to help re-moisten......be careful, not too much or for too long. Check on it and once the buds are re-moistened a little, resume the curing without it....

Thanks, they looked great and smelled great ....untill now . I'm gonna go box them up for the night .
Box them up? Cardboard will suck your terps, along with moisture. Cardboard is a no no imo. If you think they are too dry, toss them in a jar and check on them the next day. The water should be returning back to them. If still dry, keep it jarred... I once dried a couple plants wayyy to long and fixed it by jarring up 2 almost full jars without opening them for 3 months, they were almost back to normal. Still a little on the dry side but it was a million times better... The golden rule to curing is if the buds are sticking to one another in the jar, the bud are slightly too wet. Open the jar lids for 15 minutes then recap until the buds are sticking again. Repeat until everything is dry.

Wood moisture meter. Lowes, Home Depot etc sells them. They run about $30. Ideal moisture to begin cure is 10 - 12%.
Yes it’s about $30.
Test the buds not the stems.

When I dry I dry until the outer leaves are crunchy and the flower is squishy. After my first grow I freaked also thinking I overdried but after putting them into the jar they rehydrated.

If your weed ever gets to dry you can put it in a turkey bag and surround the bag with leaves of lettuce then stick the whole thing in another bag so that the leaves are contacting the turkey bag. Leave overnight and the flower will rehydrate.
