Are these bulbs not designed to run vertically??
Read on the box "use in enclosed fixtures only":anim_09:.... Don't want these babies exploding over my fresh uc setup.

jackmayoffer uses them vertically and hasn't reported any problems so far. all about that risk/reward ratio.

Lol risk(fire)vs reward(an extra p) ?? Sounds like a no brainer... Wonder why they don't recommend vert installs??

You got me? I say fuck it. I'm already running that.
I'll let you know if there is a problem later.

My guess is because the dual-arc is more fragile than a regular hps since it's got two different lights in one body. I doubt you're putting yourself at a huge risk of fire by hanging them vertically, one might fail but I don't see how a failed bulb would start a fire unless it's surrounded by wood.

it's a liability issue for the manufacturers. it's the same with quartz-halogen lamps, the literature has to say "enclosed fixtures only."

TF, 'always great to see that room.

Yea but tf your duals are enclosed in thecool tube...
Also I'd much rather be safe than sorry, @ 200 a pop I'd hate to shorten the life or increase chance of bulb failure. Anyone else got an opinion ???
