Hello farmers! I have a similar thread that I started in the tree section, but considering we're all doing hydro, I figured I'd post in here as well to get all the input I can.

What is your target EC and pH in Veg, and in bloom? Do you gradually increase it over time, and if so, by what increments? Also, what's your style of growing? (Ebb and flood, DWC, etc etc)

This should hopefully turn out as a nice little reference for the rest of the community, so please do chime in!

Well, nobody else is answering, so I will.

5.1-5.3 as a starting point for veg nutes. Let it rise to 5.9-6.1 and then dump and change it out. No higher than about 6.3 in flower. Avoid using pH Up & Down to do this. As far as EC, that all depends. Strain is less important than some make it. What matters most is your lighting system, atmospheric conditions, rootzone conditions, growing system and overall plant health.

pH stays the same between them all, though ...

Set up a poll you might get more responses if someone can just click. That way they do not have to worry about have an independent idea or something they feel they have to defend.
I would think more then 50% here have no clue what they are feeding their plants and has no clue what those macs and micros and bennies actually do. JK

I grow in Rockwool Grow Cubes in 8" mesh bottom pots.

My system is completely automated with DTW.
I Water with freshly made nutes once a day----->

There is Nothing I'd change about my feed regimen… it is totally dialed!

I run DTW in coco and use this same schedule more or less. My pH may be just a touch higher than cannaloupe being in coco, but not much, usually run pH around 5.8. I don't think pH is all that important in and of itself, just keep it within a range and mostly the same. Its the ratio of nutrients and the alkalinity that goes along with odd pH that usually causes issues, not the pH itself.

I like how cannaloupe ramps up EC then comes back down, as that helps keep salt levels lower overall. In veg i may ramp up to about 1.0 EC then come down again with a worm casting and kelp tea at .6 EC, to help keep salt levels where i want them. In flower I may get a bit higher on occasion, like 1.3 or 1.4 ec at the high point, then come back down to 1.0 as i finish up.

Then there is always the plants telling me what to do... so things are always changing.

this is for ebb and flow only:

I water every 3 hours for 1/2 hour.

pH is always between 5.8 and 6.2... Anything there is fine.

my Veg is always 1.3 EC

first week into flower I raise my EC to 1 .4 - 1.5
Week 2...1.7
week 3... 1.9
week 4... 2.1
week 5... 2.3
week 6... start my flush

in my tables, i can get away with1.5 ec veg then 1.7 ec all the way to harvest. ec. 5,5-5.8ph. i do shock flushes every week, 48 hours flush vs the reg 24hrs. its hard for salt to build up in my tables, and roots are in open air, so i have seen people go to 2.5 ec, by accident, and burn holes in the stalk, with not much damgae in peak flower

pots and coco i take off 25%. even with regular flushing. i have founf 1.2-1.3 ec from veg to flushing pre harvest works great with soiless

Can u please explain how it rises? I'm new to hydro and about to start a new Dwc grow. You say not using Ph up or down? That has me confused

i am noticing with the more salad grows i do, that i need to run lower e.c. to avoid root rot.

i would say that with salad grows i can get away with 0.7-1.0 ec, and blloming 1.0-1.5 ec peak. salad grows are tough. gott keep everyone happy

Nvm on my question. I found out the answer by reading it in the mj bible

I have to disagree with catjockey about when to change nutrients. Most of the reference works I've read agree that a given nutrient solution can be considered depleted when it has had two to three times its volume in fresh water top ups. PH isn't necessarily a factor, although it is an indicator of how your plants are doing.

hi there I use cocoa and I recirculate for the most part.,5.8 veg 6.2 flower.when transplanting and in some humics.I know I could just stay at 6.0 but I was actually told these ranges are are slightly in favor of what element we're feeding them at that time,?????? what do you guys think about this???so far it seems to have pretty consistent results yet this is the first time I've recirculated in an effort to the conserve

basically like at 5.8 nitrogen is more available and at 6.2 P and K or more absorbable.its the book im sure....but it would be cool if there was one of those nutrients diagram rings for Coco..... just one for hydro in soil and Coco is slightly different than

could someone explain.....as I have seen some other responses about the media getting acidic mine definitely does.....usually two point s....(the runoff is lower pH than my feed water)and as I thought do phophates make the medium more. acidic .so when my runiffis slightly more acidic than my rez i just assume that was fine I usually never have to add pH down
