I have been using an electric arc lighter for the past 5+ years now. I prefer smoking out of a pipe and starting maybe 10 years ago I would cough up more mucus than usual. I just continued on thinking it was normal. My sister, who is in medical school, notices my cough one day and tells me that frequently inhaling butane will cause fluids to buildup in your lungs. She pointed out the electric lighters and convinced me to buy one. First one sucked as the point where the arc came from was too thick and wouldn't get close enough to the bowl, also it didn't have usb-c which was becoming the new standard at this time. Bought another one that was long, thin, and had usb-c.

I have had this same lighter for 5 years now and it is still working the same the day I bought it. I still cough (of course, since I am smoking šŸ˜†), but now there is noticeably less mucus, if any. It took some time getting used to how to hold the lighter and I always have to teach anyone I smoke with, but it is a good conversation starter for sure.

The lighter I use:

Anyone else have any experience with these?

Thats interesting ..so it must be worse for people, like me, who constantly re light a herbal cigarette? i did buy what i thought was a vapouriser a few months ago , to cut out the tobacco and paper smoke, but it boring. i think im going to try an electric lighter, or start using matches again.

Sounds like they would be beneficial for you. The arc lighters definitely aren't boring, since they also double as a very weak taser. 🤣

I have one of these: https://solopipe.com/products/new-elektra-solopipe-self-lighting-electric-pipe

It works but I don't use it often. It can be a bit difficult at times to get the pipe smoking. For me, its been more of an expensive novelty that has not lived up to its billing.

I used to have a portable vaporizer, a long time ago, around when those blue pen e-cigs first came out (had one of those too 🤣). Ended up being an expensive novelty as well. Just like the e-cigs, it was something I thought would be a permanent healthier choice, but in the end I would use the e-cig or vape and then still smoke cigarettes and bowls. I did cut the cigarette habit eventually (cold turkey), but chose to never give up the ganja. 😁

Wife bought me and her plasma lighters but I haven't been able to spark a bong with one. I guess that is literal in this sense, sparking a bong lol! Only thing I've managed to light with one is the end of a joint.

The last post about plasma was the one and only element in this short thread which felt rational and yet it's still about combustion. Besides, the problem with butane ain't actually butane itself but it would be pointless to debate that here, while even as a vaporist one would eventually realize smokeless dry inhalation doesn't even need butane at all to explain what's being described in the intro. No matter how hard a lesson i guess all humans must learn through their own personal mistakes, the difference residing in how much time it takes.

I recently had someone give me a plasma lighter, pretty cool, great for joints/cigs, but not so great for pipes., as least the one I have.
