I have been using an electric arc lighter for the past 5+ years now. I prefer smoking out of a pipe and starting maybe 10 years ago I would cough up more mucus than usual. I just continued on thinking it was normal. My sister, who is in medical school, notices my cough one day and tells me that frequently inhaling butane will cause fluids to buildup in your lungs. She pointed out the electric lighters and convinced me to buy one. First one sucked as the point where the arc came from was too thick and wouldn't get close enough to the bowl, also it didn't have usb-c which was becoming the new standard at this time. Bought another one that was long, thin, and had usb-c.
I have had this same lighter for 5 years now and it is still working the same the day I bought it. I still cough (of course, since I am smoking
), but now there is noticeably less mucus, if any. It took some time getting used to how to hold the lighter and I always have to teach anyone I smoke with, but it is a good conversation starter for sure.

Anyone else have any experience with these?
