I'm trying to rig up a water flow shutoff for my water cooled lights just in case my cooling pump takes a crap. I'm thinking of getting a paddle sensor like this one (not this same one but one that can work in conjunction with a shutoff box)

is there an electrical box that can have a shutoff signal sent to it at, lets say 28A DC or 120v AC that will shut off a box which handles 40A@240V? It doesn't seem like anyone makes a 240V flow controller.

I have 12 1000W fresca sol bulbs to cool so I'll be running 2 of these 40A@240V controllers.

You can run your lights thru a lighting contactor. The contactors coil (the off and on switch) can operate from many different voltages.

So, I contacted Omega engineering and ordered an fsw-22 flow switch and two 50A solid state relays with heat sinks. I'll post pics once it's up and running. Omega makes some pricey equipment but it's the best in the business. I consider $300 for a flow switch cheap insurance considering you've got tens of thousands of dollars at stake if it doesn't work. I asked a process engineer my question and this is what he came up with. It might be a bit over engineered but I think that's ok considering what's at stake if it fails.

You can split the flow switch signal to more than one relay. Omega also makes relays that handle up to 100A and 660V in AC and DC. The relays are linked at the bottom of the flow switch web page under related products.

So, if you're running a bunch of water cooled lights in a custom configuration here's your solution to flow control.

Oh yea, and it's all made in the USA if that means anything to anyone anymore.

you can get this unit from bestcoastgrowers.com or one like it simply plumb it into your return line and then plug the timer that goes to your trigger cord of your light controller. this will turn off all your lights and the timer so whe nyou find it you know when it stopped. also i recomend that you use a power strip or splitter so you can also plug your pump into the no flow no go so if your system gets a leak the flow stoppimg will also turn off your pump so it doesn't pump your whole res on the floor.
