Most electricians will charge $25-$35/hr, you will pay much more for a large company. A large company will have a much higher overhead, new vans, equipment, ads, etc. Don't use a massive company, get a licensed guy off craigslist or ask people for a referral.

Damn 25-35 an hour.. thats if you hire someone who isnt licensed or a buddy. Contractor rates in cali are more than double. I pay my electrician to work for me 26 an hour plus gas card and fully equipped van.
BUt im not large company anymore, only 1 guy right now, use to have 6-8 in the good ol days.

If i was going to go with someone unlicensed it would be me....lol
 
i can pretty much talk anyone thru anything about electrical. Do it all the time with my general contractors...they love the freebie calls. I figure what goes around comes around
