I might grow bigger plants, but I don't think I grow better weed. Once you build a solid technique that works for you, it really becomes more about the genetics then anything else.

Hahaha not quite, one was already open so Im gonna have a few seeds. Hopefully it was only that one because the pots block my vision from the back side where that one is, there could very well be more open bananas lying on the floor and I wouldnt see them but fingers crossed

If it was induced bare stamen in the main flower clusters encouraged by extra stress, you've just made some feminized seeds technically. And they shouldn't be any more likely to herm then the pollen donor was. Main cluster bananas only make enough viable pollen to make a handful of seeds if that anyway. And sometimes their pollen isn't even viable. You gotta have bananas out the wazoo, or full formed flowers down low, or constantly cycling bananas to really seed out a grow.

If they were fully formed male flowers with petals and everything on lower growth away from the main flower clusters, then def trash bin those seeds. They'll have a % of genetically induced non stress related hermies in em.

Hmmm... about the bananas, Im not sure about that hahaha. I have 1 hermie and caught 3 bananas so probably this time there wont be many seeds (unless more open bananas fell to the floor, I cant see behind that pot) but I can tell you that in a grow that I had with 9 smaller pots instead of 4 I got seeds everywhere with just 1 hermie, bananas aswell not male flowers on the stem still smoked it because the seeds were big by the time I had to harvest so I just grinded gently and whenever I found resistance I opened and extracted the seeds and kept grinding.

that would mean the flower was probably making bare stamen all over its structure, not jkust where visible lol.


Ive had some weird hermie plants before, ive had some that would just switch to nothing BUT bananas, and if you didnt harvest early, theyd literally take over the entire plant, and your end harvest would be like 50-60% bare stamen by wieght. Those ones didnt even make viable pollen though, but they still made it, and smoking them, if you were someone with allergies, was a nightmare lol.


Yea, those banana plants, those ruined entire runs, and was why i started making my own seeds years ago lol. those and genetic full male flower hermies becoming more and more common.


If your plants are making enough bananas to fully seed out grows thats definitely an issue with the inbreeding and backcrossing of a lineage. Too many recessive hermie traits restacked without giving the chance to observe them express first if ya know what i mean.

Sometimes though, the flower a plant produces is just too damn fire to not work with lol, and some bananas here and there are worth the risk. My biggs F2 is like that, shell spit a lot of later flower bananas if you arent careful. but the flower she makes is just too damn good to not grow. I just prob wont breed with that lineage anymore. Shes the one that spit out that low 30s run for me in KC. Shes probably the most potent lineage i have. Bubba kush x gelato

Definetely fat banana and all the strains that have chiquita banana or similar in them are prone to herm. It does have a banana taste and is one of my favorite strains, in fact I have 3 right now in the small indoors, and 1 forbidden fruitcake and I have had them herm on me twice already (the fat banana) but the 2 times I had them herm coincided with high heat in summer, Im hoping that is way less likely to happen during other seassons as I have had them without herming on me aswell.

I tried 2 more banana strains and one of them hermed on me aswell, I think it was tropicana banana by Barney's Farm and I never had a strain from that bank herm on me before. (I have not gone through their entire catalog, just a few strains). If anyone knows of a stable banana strain please let me know!

Since Im at it, time to make an update of the small indoors, theyve grown quite a bit since the last time.

I will top after the 5th or 6th node depending on how tall they get but so far theyre very compact. Keeping the lights close + its 70% indica. I believe the Forbidden Fruitcake is also indica dominat, they dont say in the advanced seeds webpage but thats how its described in online grows, indica dominant.

Update on the big tent. I was afraid they would not get much bigger because of the heat as it has happened before but I was wrong. 35-36ºC on average in the tent and the lung room. I will try to keep them cooler for the last week or two. Except for the hermie and the wedding cake they stil have a 2-3 weeks left before harvest, lights are at 100% gotta get as close to 1200umols in the middle as I can. Fuck the heat, theyre taking it like champs.

But they dont grow dont grow indica dominant flower that tests 30%+. Facts. I grow Biggs (bubba x gelato s1) specifically for my mom, and a couple older folks that love the lineage for pain. Honestly for me it's a been too brain derp, but they love it lol.

Started with a gelato s1 clone. IIRC it was the gelato 41 s1 that made the commercial facility rounds. That plant vegged SO slow, it would go a little nuts in flower but was the slowest plant to veg i had even in DWC.

I had got a cutting of some old pre 2010 bubba kush from a grower friend in KC. Made a fem F1, and picked the two most similar phenos i had from a run of about 16 of them, and made a fem f2 cross with those for a little more consistency in the phenos. Im guessing both the bubba and gelato had some recessive hermie traits though. I was unwilling to take the lineage past f2 because there was a significant jump in banana likelihood after i took it to the F2. Went from no hermie to bananas in the last 2 weeks of flower every run in a single generation. Too late to make any seeds, but im unwilling to progress that lineage any further with inbreeding now lol. Woulda been cool to stabilize that one. Woulda been Godfather OG levels of dankness.

Oh I remember freaking out in a good way about that cross. Gelato + Bubba kush . Im willing to bet the hermy traits come from the bubblegum parent of the bubba kush. I love bubblegum, it was my first favorite strain, I planted them several times and its one of those that herm sometimes like the chiquita banana.

Holy shit my digital timer went crazy for the 4th time, it was on auto mode and didnt turn on the lights. The time also changed completely showing it was 1am at 3pm. Its the second one of these I go through, the first one lasted for a couple of months before going crazy and same with this one too. Fk em, Ill buy an analog like the one I have in the other tent, those dont glitch.
That must have caused a lot of unnecessary stress, 4 times...
