Hey everyone, this will be my first journal here at "the farm". I really like these forums in comparison to the others I've been a member of in the past.

Some details about my room(s). I use a 4 x 8 foot vegetative closet with a 430 watt HPS to start mothers and veg. I also keep a small humidity chamber in this room to start clones but I shield them from the power of the HPS with an old reflector and use 40 watts of cool white fluoros to get 'em started.

For the flowering room which is 8 x 8 x 8, I like the 1000 watt HPS with the hortilux bulb, which seems to be enough for my needs at the moment.

I started the seeds for these 3 strains about a month and half ago, selected the best mothers of each, and then took 5 clones of every strain. So you'll be starting this with me from the first roots through the end.

Here's a picture of the Chocolope mother after I took the 5 clones:

This is the Emerald Jack mother after her 5 cuts:

And last but not least, the Critical + mother (from Dinafem) after 5 cuts:

And on to the stars of the show.. ;)

So it's not that exciting yet, but please let me know if you're following this cause I really appreciate kind words and advice. That's it for now, thanks for tuning in! :hi

Thanks for stopping by Limit! I don't have that much info on them besides the breeder descriptions but here is what they have to say about each:

Emerald Triangle Seeds - Emerald Jack (Feminized)
Genetics: Jack Herer x Emerald OG

We crossed two of the strongest, most beloved and desired sativa-dominant hybrids in the world to create this symphony of flavors. Emerald Jack grows tall quickly, doubling in size after moving into the fl owering cycle, so don’t be afraid to flip it early indoors. Be sure to stake these early and often or employ a trellis to support the massive terminal bud growth. Healthy doses of nitrogen, calcium and magnesium will be essential in getting the plant to its full potential. You will be rewarded for your labor by a thick harvest of resin-encrusted colas. The tropical fruit salad of the Jack Herer collides with the intense sour of the Emerald OG to create a tangy, unique taste that lingers on the palate. Emerald Jack produces an uplifting, energetic high, stimulating creative and euphoric thoughts.

Dinafem Seeds - Critical +
Genetics: BigBud x Skunk

Fantastic Indica plant which is an award winning strain that recieved the Highlife Glass of Barcelona. Critical + is a high yielder that packs a powerful yet fruity skunk scent with a delicious taste. Indoor cultivators will need to take care and employ heavy ventilation due to the strong, skunky fragance it exudes while growing. Critical + is a high yield producer with a powerful, fruity skunk aroma, saddled with a delicious taste. Critical + cultivates indoors but beware it has a very strong, skunky fragrance while growing. Critical + is a very potent smoke, mentally & physically, with a high yield and harvests in early October. Critical + has a flowering time pf 45-50 days.

DNA Genetics - Chocolope
Genetics: O.G. Chocolate Thai X Cannalopehaze

Originally named D-Line, are a novice grower's dream plant! With a uniquely heavy yield and large heavy nugs, the Chocolope is extremely easy to grow. This Sativa heavy plant likes to grow tall so beware if space is an issue, however she can grow out with a little training. We chose to cross our Original Chocolate Thai female with the Cannalope male, and then started backcrossing this to achieve a shorter flower time and still retain some of the Original Chocolate Thai qualities. What makes these Cannabis Seeds so special is that when you enjoy her you taste that chocolate you've been missing from the 80's! The DNA Genetics Chocolope is the "ONE"! Not much haze, but you don't need it.

kes - awesome, thanks for tuning in!

sensisaint - the emerald jack was a single seed freebie for me but it turned out to be one of the fastest growing plants i've ever encountered so i'll be giving the rest of the emerald triangle strains a look for sure. i had trouble finding any journals on this one which was why i wanted to help others see what it was all about. hopefully i can help ya at the end in terms of how she "feeds" and what to expect with the finished product. ;)

noreason - glad to have you along for the ride bro, and thanks for the heads up on the choc and the c+, they're both definitely impressing me so far. after i selected mothers i threw the rest of the "non-keepers" into flower just to see how they'd perform, and both are living up to their description of being good producers. i just hope the smoke is as good as i've heard, my mouth is already watering for that chocolope. :)

again, thanks guys for letting me know you're watchin'. it makes it easier for me to keep up the journal if i have an audience.

Well I have seen the chocolope a couple times and tried the jack herer but never crossed with the emerald. I especially want to try that c+ now.

In the 8x8 room do you ever use 2 1000w hps bulbs depending on the amount of plants?

truepunk - sucks to hear about the watering issues, things like this have made me a control freak and i basically won't let anyone near my grow anymore.

limit - i honestly should be using 2 1000's for this kind of space, but with the perpetual setup i run i tend to have several different heights of plants which allows me to tweak the canopy fairly well. but even with the single light in the center of the room, i theoretically have coverage up to 4ft away from plants (which should be about 10000 lumens) at the corners and outside perimeter (plus the benefit of the reflected light from the mylar only inches from these outside plants). i also try to put the smaller plants in the center so that the taller girls won't "block out the sun".

stay tuned for tomorrow, almost all 15 clones are showing roots now and i'll be heading to the store for a fresh bundle of pro-mix for some transplanting in the morning.

sensisaint - i'd definitely like to know how that grapefruit krush is cause i got a freebie of that too but the single seed they sent me was pretty weak looking and barely popped, then died. and as far as keeping you updated on the emerald jack i'll post a pic of the mother of my clones at 1 week flower after this post for a look into the future. :)

here are the pics i meant to post yesterday, i just got caught up with work. i also just harvested some of my everyday smoke, (bubblegum). these were 4 plants that were average size, they finished at about 2 feet in 56 days:

http://i1227.invalid.com/albums/ee431/green-king/harvest-shot.jpghttp://i1227.invalid.com/albums/ee431/green-king/harvest-shot-2.jpg

i had one clone of the chocolope that looked weak, and one clone of the critical + that looked weak so i culled them both. all 5 of the emerald jacks had nice healthy root systems so i transplanted all of these.

and here are some shots of the transplanted clones, these first three had the strongest root systems so far and are my candidates for mothers:

Critical + (left) and Chocolope (right)

Emerald Jack

http://i1227.invalid.com/albums/ee431/green-king/DSCF0694.jpg

and here we have some shots of the rest of the group with less developed root systems in smaller pots for more aeration. the emerald jacks are kind of my favorite at this point and are turning out to be a fine addition to the garden. you'll notice that several EJ's got their own 16qt containers right from the start cause i can tell they'll need a lot of space for those roots even this early. ;)

http://i1227.invalid.com/albums/ee431/green-king/DSCF0691.jpg

and last is a pic that i couldn't get the flash to work on of the whole group. i'll get more detailed with labeling the pictures as they get a bit bigger and more interesting. that's it for now guys, it's time for a lil more hash...
