F1 or bx

Can someone tell me what is the difference between a F1 AND A BX and witch is better in your opinion

F1 is first Filia(daughter in latin)cross of 2 different strains. and a bx1 is a backross 1 time to try an isolate the traits of the mother plant and make them more pronounce in future generations. to determine the best depends on what your looking for. do you want something new? Or are you trying to make a certain pheno more pronounced in seed form. like making a clone only into seed form

Is the 3rd backcross/bx3 called Cubing ?

if you take say a male from each generation that most resembled the mom and cross it back to the mom yes that would be called cubing.
