Anyway... Moving on... Here's a good thread about Gaia Green. I suggest reading the first few pages and then skipping down to the last two or three.

This is the Gaia thread I share : )

Thanks for that.

Still deciding what I'll be getting.

Something else to think about when settling in your amendment choice is uptake availability time. There's pros and cons to weigh here. A slow release won't get you out of a jam quickly if you come up against a deficiency and requires some advance planning so you have them mixed in and ready when they need them. The benefit they offer is much lower risk of overfeeding. A faster release will feed them quicker but also comes with the risk of overfeeding. So when you are shopping for your amendments, you might want to get some info about whether it's time release or rapid availability.

I was going to begin my girls with the sure start 4-6-2 but I'm wondering if I need the 444 and I could just buy the power bloom, or is it better to get the balanced fertilizer eventually for vegetative stages?

Is there a risk of pushing flour too early with the extra phosphorus that comes from the sure start and then it has less potassium?

I'm going to be growing critical purple autoflowers in addition to everything else.

I still have a bunch of it from last grow and it has dormant microbes in it as well as Magnesium and THIS:

I’m really new to using Gaia green and growing in general. For me I just kept it one line across the board ( in my case it’s two lines but different applications)

I don’t know anything about the other brands, so I can’t accurately recommend one way or another. So far in my veg room everything amended with the Gaia 444 and recharge alternate waters are looking awesome! I’m starting to add mega crop with that also.

Ahh

I have Superthrive and Purpinator for most of my micro nutes. I also added Diamectious Earth for my Silica since I had a full bag already for pest control.

Do you have the Super Bloom too?

How does it smell?

Does it top dress well?

It looks like it has Magnesium in it as one of the ingredients.

Wanted to make sure.

The 420 stuff from EB Stone Organics has all that but it's npk is 288.

$18 for a 4 lbs bag.

I'm deciding between Gaia and that.

Yeah i top dressed that in on my flower by run. I think it’s good so far. I had to add a little extra nitrogen in my waterings.

It’s definitely noticeable after waterings but it’s not nasty like a fish or something like that. It’s very earthy : )

I add 3 tablespoons of both GGAP and GGPB per gallon of soil when I mix the soil. I mix other amendments at the same time, including azomite, Epsom salt, gypsum, biochar, and earthworm castings.

Care must be taken when mixing, however, because soils usually have nutrients of their own. I recycle my soil, so that's not much of a concern for me. Different strains have different nutrient needs and tolerances, as well.

During the plant's establishment stage, I water with root fertilizer that includes fungal mycorrhizae. Once the plant is growing well, I water with kelp fertilizer well into the flowering stage. I add other supplements as the plants ask for them. This often includes top dressing with GGPB when flowering begins.

Cannabis likes porous soil, so perlite (or something similar) is an important addition. Organic soil tends to retain moisture, making perlite especially important. In addition to perlite, I usually also amend rice hulls or coco coir, both of which have a similar effect as perlite.

Just bought a big bag of perlite and put it in my soil mix. 😁

I reuse soil too, I added worm castings, chicken manure and microbes, etc to this refresh of my soil. I'm going to do a pH test and nutrient test before I even begin to add Amendments and plant seeds.

Hmmm I'm now leaning towards just buying the Recipe 420 from EB Stone Organics since I already have that brand.

It looks really comparable.

I’ll bet you could achieve similar if not the same results with that stuff : )

For now it would $5 cheaper also and I could just switch directly from 4-6-2
to 2-8-8 and I'd have 4 lbs of it.

I still have 2 pounds of the Sure Start.😇

Typically, organic growing doesn't require pH testing, but it can be helpful to know the pH of the tap water. How do you do a nutrient test?

That stuff isn't available in my neck of the woods, AFAIK.

Are you planning a nutrient mix for both the vegetative and flowering stages?

Yeah, I'll gently introduce the flowering food as we approach flowering stage.

I can test Ph of soil and nutrients with my Rapitest soil test kit.

I also have a ph meter to test my water as well as run off water and a TDS meter.

I then have a 4 in 1 meter for light, humidity, fertility and pH.

Finally I have a meat thermometer 🌡️ I use to test soil temperature ☮️😇

Dr earth fg is sold out or tripled in price because of our clown show wars and printing

It takes a lot of differnt dry amendments. I would look at build a soils craft blend. It will save you some money in the end
