Been trying to control Russett mites for a month now on an 8 ft Green Crack growing in a field greenhouse protected from rain. Been using Nuke em in regular periodic sets plus one treatment of recently acquired Grandevo. Also have pruned out some affected material.

Infection started on one side and treatments seem to have limited spread to other side although there has been some vertical movement; fortunately they haven't jumped to adjacent plant either. They came in on one or two other plants planted next to the GC and I did not recognize what was going on until it was two late and I proactively ripped those two out to save the GC.

Flowers are filling out at this point (10/10) and looking at trichomes and pistils plant probably has a few weeks to go. Getting a bit nervous about continuing to spray even though products claim to be ok on flowers. Don't want to smoke residues of non cannabis inputs particularly even if they are food grade and NOP allowed. Pistils in some area have dark tips like they have been harshed a bit from all the spraying (?), although overall there are plenty of nice white pistils on areas of the plant away from heaviest problem and spraying.

1. Anyone with experience in fighting russetts deep into flower, love to hear your thoughts especially Nuke em or Grandevo users.

2. Infection rate isn't too bad after all the spraying. Are the plants far enough along that the mites could not do enough damage to hurt coming harvest and maybe I can get by with no more spraying?

3. So far haven't seen any mites on flower structures, just mostly larger leaves. Did see a few on small leaves of bud in most infected area. Will Russetts damage flowers themselves?

4. Wonder what happens after harvest? How long would the mites continue to feed? Would they jump ship or die? Probably wouldn't hurt to vaporize and inhale a few mites, but wonder about overall relationship between mites and harvested/cured bud. Since they are sap suckers food source must dry up at some point.

Thanks for your help with these nasties.

A homemade insecticide made from vegetable oil mixed with a mild soap (such as Dr. Bronners castile soap) can have a devastating effect on certain troublesome insects, such as aphids, mites, thrips, etc. To make a basic oil spray insecticide, mix 1 cup of vegetable oil with 1 tablespoon of soap (cover and shake thoroughly), and then when ready to apply, add 2 teaspoons of the oil spray mix with 1 quart of water, shake thoroughly, and spray directly on the surfaces of the plants which are being affected by the little pests. The oil coats the bodies of the insects, effectively suffocating them, as it blocks the pores through which they breathe.

Try a product called mightywash, it's ionized water and does the job.
