First grow and time for harvest few questions

So its soon for harvest time and I didn't know if my plants were quite ready yet
also what is this dark period before cutting that I've read a little about.

Welcome to the farm jacob..id say your very close.your in the window anyway ..calyx look plump hairs are receeding so anytime you like.it sorta depends on what you like ..i like a little amber as it takes the edge off some strains and get a little bit more dope..got pics of all the plant bro..
