Day 61, day 4 of flower:
Another day or two to water I think. I used your advice marty, how does this look? It was leaning towards this direction so I went with it. Otherwise, new growth looking good, I think. They responded well to the nutrients, no nute burn and I can already see new growth not being as light green. Left humidifier off and it stabilized at around 45% rh. Was thinking maybe i’ll just run the humidifier on low for half an hour or so. What do you guys think? Ordered two LED lights, so plan on switching the light soon. Temp sitting at 70°F.
Looks good, were you able to get a feel for what the stem could take with that technique? It’s very helpful to learn that especially when employing low stress training and trellis nets. What’d you get for lighting? I’d go get some plain old unscented epsom salts at the drugstore. Those LED’s will pull the magnesium right out of the leafs, not literally or physically but the need or demand for magnesium will be higher. It’s easy to make a water soluble solution, basically 1 tablespoon per gallon of water once a month or more frequently if yellowing of new growth persists .

Went with mars hydro TS 3000 for flower tent and then TS 1000 for veg tent. I do add calmag although there is magnesium in my nutrient solution.

Day 62, day 5 of flower:
Turned my MH light to 80% power. Since I have my new light already being shipped, I want to try to not open the HPS bulb so maybe I can try and sell it. Thinking water with just water tomorrow. I have a second trellis net to setup, should I give it a few weeks? What do you guys think?

General question, is a temp of 63 during lights on ok? I’ve seen lots of different reviews of people saying it’s good to have low 60s even to mid 50s during flower. Today was my first day running my inline fan from lights on and temps were at 63. I turned it off just now, and was thinking I might have to buy a smaller inline fan.

So I think we discussed this before but your plants are not going to flourish in cooler temperatures like that, I wouldn’t worry too much about it at this point and you might be lucky to see some cool purple expression in the leaves and buds if that strain is known for purple. But going forward you’ll have better growth if you can keep daylight temps from 70-80 give or take five degrees on either end, with a roughly ten degree decrease during your dark period. Is your tent in a temperature controlled room, or is it in an area without heat or cooling?

There is some hearing and cooling, but it is an entire open basement, about 80feet long by maybe 30-40 feet wide with not a single wall. I put it in the corner, and if I don’t turn on the carbon filter, temps go to 73-75. All day with it on, 64 and still falling. Summertime it’ll get hot down there, I’m sure I’ll use all 100% power of the inline fan. It’s rough I started during winter, but hoping it’s not enough to really hurt the grows. People say your first grow is more of a learning experience than quality product, so at least I know my next grow will go smoother. Still, I need to figure the problem out. Until then, I think I won’t run the inline fan so that temps sit at mid 70s. During night I normally don’t run my inline fan and even after 12 hours of dark it won’t drop pass low 60s. Luckily, the seed bank said this strain is resilient which is half the reason I picked it.

Every grow is a chance to learn from these plants, as you progress as a grower you’ll learn to clone them and regrow them after having learned what mom liked her clones will follow suit. It’s like a second chance incase you don’t do the best job first time around, also a great way to keep some good smoke around. My biggest regrets are not cloning some of the plants that I’ve grown. Sometimes you grow multiple seeds of the same variety and there’s one plant that stands out, that’s called a phenotype. In a nutshell it’s the same genetics as the other seeds but it exhibits different physical characteristics. These are the ones that you’re going to want to preserve through cloning. Sometimes it’s not apparent in veg, sometimes it’s in the finished product. It’s easy to get carried away with growing it becomes addictive to most of us. I daydream of having more space for more plants constantly. Keep up the good work and you’ll be seeing some pistols soon, then you’ll get really excited, then your buds will start bulking up and getting that frost, you’ll be smelling some funk in no time.

Would you say I should clone all 4 of them even before seeing the finished product? I’m planning on getting my next batch started within the next week, since that’s when I’ll be getting my new light I’ll be using for veg and seeding. Got the smaller tent set up, just waiting for mars hydro’s tracking number to become available so I get an estimated time.

I don’t know if you want to stress them out, how long since you flipped them? A week? I guess if you have any lower growth with at least three nodes that’s not at net level. You could take a few cuttings. I’m horrible at cloning plants and maybe only have a 25% success/survival rate. I don’t know if you have any gear to start clones? Usually worth buying a clone dome and a heat mat, some rooting hormone and a little spray bottle. Clones can’t really take up nutrients or water until they start to develop roots, so high levels of humidity and a warm environment under a low intensity light are essential.

In that case, I think I’ll stick with seeds. Lights are supposed to be here by monday, so might put them in water now.

Might be something to try next round, I think I remember that you got seeds from ILGM, right? So you got more seeds of the same strain then? Maybe wait until you have a dedicated set up for cloning.

Yea, still got 15. My plan was to maybe trade with someone I know that lives near me our seedlings. He said he pheno hunts and would be willing to trade a few week old plants.

Nice, it’s good that you’re keeping a record of your grow too, it’ll be useful to reference it in the future. I wish I’d been more organized with my grows. I scroll through thousands of photos and try to remember what was growing when.

Yea, I like using this forum to see progress pics, I also keep a notebook in pen and paper just in case, but it’s nice being able to look at problems. For example, I’ll be using gnat traps from the beginning.

Day 63, 6 of flower:
Nothing to add. Kept inline fan off and temps sat at around 73°. Watering tomorrow with nutes.

Day 64, day 7 flower:
Does this look like a normal amount of stretching after flipping? I turned my light to full power after giving them a week on 80%, but I hardly notice any stretching. I started germinating seeds yesterday since my lights were supposed to arrive tomorrow, but it says it’ll be late and arrive around Friday. Any suggestions on makeshift grow lights? Was thinking maybe find an old lamp since it’ll only be for a day at most. Watered all plants with 750ML, some plants are looking droopy. What do you guys think?

Yeah a lamp will work fine for the seedlings, just make sure they are warm and humid.

Also, temps sitting at 77 degrees after lights on for 4 hours. Gonna put the inline fan on its lowest setting again.

Did you get a controller for your inline fan? Inkbird has a humidity/temp controller for 30.00 right now on Amazon might be worth looking into if you didn’t get a controller
