Did you find hempys original thread? If so I would follow it but if anyone else said feed that early I would think they are crazy. Like I said I've never dabled with hydro before good luck. I will chase the thread up sometime it's made me curios

Hempy's threads, which I've read on other sites, said to start off feeding full strength. I thought that was maybe for clones or something. So I gave water the first week, 1/4 second, and this week I'm doing 1/2 1/4 1/4 1/2.

I don't run hempy but from what I've seen around is people starting CLONES at 100-200 ppm for first 2-3 days then up the ppm by about 100 every 2-3 days until you reach your desired full strength. Should be pretty quick that way but definitely is a gradual increase. For seedlings it's probably a little slower than a clone that's from a matured plant. Seedlings would take it a lil harder IMO. Like I said I have no experience in this method but if I was to start one today that's how I would do it.

I do think those babies will adjust and adapt and come out great. It is my firm belief that consistency is key. I believe most people that have bad final product is mostly because when they see an issue they don't stick to a plan and they try a thousand different things and don't give the plant time to adapt.
Just my thoughts

Clones sounds right. I'll stick with quarter strength I guess until the ladies tell me they want more.

Do you have a tds meter? Or ec? You can get a tds meter for 20 bucks. A decent one. I would go by ppm and raise it from there. Putting 1/4 strength is probably safe but if you don't know the ppm you're kinda flying blind.

Well, it's Wednesday again. Time for another update. Thing's here are chugging along nicely. I'm starting to get little white hairs on my girls. I wish they would be a little taller first, but as this is my first grow, I'm happy I'm doing something not wrong.

I'm still feeding veg nutes at 1/4 strength and my girls seem happy. I haven't picked up the tds pen yet. I got my paycheck but haven't had a chance to deposit and then spend it just yet.

With no real problems, I guess it's on to pictures.

So I just realized it's not Wednesday but Tuesday. Turns out I owe that kid an apology, his stuff isn't as bad as I thought.

Anyways, some thoughts on the hempy bucket. It's stupid easy for a new grower. Mix up nutes and water daily for a while then every couple days. Make sure your light is far enough away. Done. I think a 5 gallon bucket is way too big for an auto. If I do this again, I'll be using something much smaller.

My goal is to grow organically with recyled soil. One day in the next coupe years. Right now on this run I need meds and was told this is the quickest easiest method. So buckets at first. Besides, I've found in life that being able to do a thing a couple different ways is a handy skill or mindset to have.

My goal is to be organic in a few runs. To that end I've been reading everything I can find on organics, here there and everywhere. I have right now a bag of Roots Organic soil and some bottled "organic" nutes. But eventually I'll have the giant trash can with recycling soil in it. I'll be one of those guys amending with ACTs and singing love songs to worms.

I grow only for me. Maybe maybe you help out a friend here and there, but mainly for my own stash. That gives me a lot of latitude to "play around" and find the way that works best for me. Which I'm really looking forward to doing.

So I'm updating today to take advantage off being off of work. Long day tomorrow.

Anyways, so I had a bit of an issue with light burn very recently. But I think I caught it in time so as not to do any permanent damage. Hopefully.

Otherwise things are chugging along wonderfully. The girls are really starting to fill out. They're a tad young yet, but almost ready for bud porn.

There's really not much to report. It seems as if everything is going (almost) just as its supposed to. For my first grow, I'm happy about that. I really had visions/ fears of bothering you guys every couple days. Oh shit, what's this! Wtf is that! And that hasn't happened. I wonder if it's all the research I've done before starting up. Or any gardening instincts I have. My guess is plain dumb luck combined with research to make educated guesses.

Eh, enough of that. Nobody is here to listen to that. Everybody does like pictures though. So here they are. Standard red party cup for scale.

Yeah probably. Just not with autos again. Life cycle is just too damned short to let the roots grow like that.

Hey everybody. Time to do another update. Things are chugging along here in Rookie's secret garden. Girls are continuing to ripen. Seeing some funky things on the leaves, but otherwise doing pretty ok. The smell is getting quite nice. I haven't really changed anything so there isn't much to say I think. My girls are pretty short, I'm a little bummed about that. But otherwise, the colas are looking good. I won't have a ton, but I'll have mine.

So some of you may notice my girls got a roommate. That's a little of kush in the center. I plan on vegging her as long as the autos are in there and when they come out, switch to flower. I heard good things about og and I'm looking forward to trying her out. She's in a little pot for now but there's a 7 gallon smart pot just waiting for her. Hopefully she can get big for me.

Well, lets get some pictures up.
