Alright, no idea what I'm doing here in the way of keeping a journal. Do my best to update regularly.

Here goes.

Got a bunch of auto flowering seeds, all random strains. So no idea what's coming up.

Got them in some small plastic cups. Medium is an all purpose potting mix from Promix.

Will be transplanting into 5 gallon cloth pots when the time comes.

Here's the first little lady. Dropped her in the soil on the 28th of May. Weather has been a bit on the cooler side and rain every other day.

This one kind of made me do this thread
From the looks of it those are pistols and it's going straight to flower? She's about 2 days behind the one above.

Going to germinating two more seeds tonight.

Still trucking along. About two weeks old.

IMG 20200614 091429

She's beautiful and I don't care what anyone says. Two days behind the one above.

One dud on the germination side of things and one popped. It's in soil but still hasn't peaked out.

Weather's been a bit crap lately. Cool and wet. Forcast says back to normal near the end of this week. Think the plants will like that.

Not sure what's going on with her. Maybe stressed out a bit and that's why those leaves look so funny. New set coming in look fine. Quite a bit smaller than her sister for only being two days behind. Don't even see any roots at the bottom of the cup yet.

IMG 20200623 142236

This little lady just got transplanted into a 5 gallon. Know it's advised to not transplant autos so live and learn I guess. Already getting a bit skunky too. Stinks more than the big one.

IMG 20200623 142228

And here's that inherited plant. I know I said I would get rid of it but that ended up not happening for reasons. My mom of all people suggested 2 drops of dawn dish soap in a bottle of water and hit the underside of the leaves. Did that on the same night it was supposed to rain a lot. It rained on and off for two days afterwards and it looks sooo much better under the leaves. Nothing under the new growth.

Going to transplant soon because I knows it's rootbound, just don't have anything bigger to stick it in yet. Hopefully pick something up tonight

Got it moved over into a 7 gallon fabric pot. Biggest one I could find. Bit blown away at how few nurseries around here carry fabric pots.

Bent it over and pruned it back pretty hard. Not sure if I went overboard or not. Maybe cut things off I shouldn't have. Figure there's a lot of time yet and I can't have a monster of a plant. See how it goes. Later that day I realised I should have just topped it and pulled the branches out. Yay learning.

Two autos still moving along nicely. Both transplanted well.

Alright, little update.

So it will be about 7 weeks in two days. Just wondering if I should be switching over to some flower food. Been reading a lot and that seems to be what helps trigger it all with autos?

I haven't fed much. Scratched in about a table spoon around week 4. Did that a bit heavier again a week or two later due to rain. Wasn't able to get them under cover all the time.

IMG 20200714 141926

Been warming up this passed week with a lot of sun. Plants are loving it. Had to stake the one as she was getting a little tippy. Bit windy these last couple days.

Auto 2 - had a rough go at the start. Think that's why it's so much smaller?
IMG 20200714 141322

And that photo period one I inherited. I have a fair bit of light pollution where I am I've come to realize. Figure something out.

So just got the first feeding for flower over and done with. Using Gaia Green power bloom (2-8-4) at 1/4 the recommended amount. Mixed it into some soil then top dressed with that. Had the room at the top of the pot so why not.

Might as well get a picture of the big girl in here.

I think the mites are back or never completely got taken care of. Don't see anything on the other two plants thankfully. Unsure how I'll deal with this right now. Will keep a close eye to see how it progresses.

I noticed just one of the bud sites looking a bit wonky. Oddly enough this is from the healthier of the two. Is it a genetic thing? Thought maybe a deficiency at first but after a lot of reading couldn't find anything.

IMG 20200721 195847

If anyone's checked this out and spots anything I've missed please feel free to chime in! Keep reading there's a big need to nutes around week 4 of flower and was thinking about picking up some bat guano. I'll keep reading though and see.

Week 2 of flower almost in the bag. I'll be honest, I spend way too much time coming out onto my patio and just taking a look. Been around a lot of pot plants, never seen one for the whole flower cycle. Very exciting.

Not much is new. Knocked that mildew problem out with just one pass of a baking soda + water foliar spray and carefully removing the worst culprits.

On another note I think my photo period lady here is reveging on me!? Maybe if someone sees this and knows they can say. Feels a bit early yet for flower. Got some serious residual light issues outside I'm trying to figure out how to deal with.

IMG 20200729 194736

Annnnd onto the autos. Still trucking along nicely. Been warm this last week sitting in the low 30s (85+ F for you Yanks :) ) and they loving it. Was watering every 3rd day or so but with the heat it's been almost everyday now. Usually some run off every second water.

Would it be a seriously bad idea to remove some of the lowest branches here? Been pondering this all week. Shock the plant but get more energy into the upper stuff. I don't know.

I'll say this, if your gonna do it, do it now and dont wait. You know the pros and cons I think so I wont go too much into that here.

One idea is you could keep them and just harvest half a plant at a time.

I never thought about harvesting like that... Okay then. Thanks.

Told myself I was just going to leave them be. Here I am, two week into flower just itching to do something hah.

One quick thing to get out of the way. I chopped her down. Fuck that shit. Mites and wpm. Kept thinking j was winning the battle. Way too risky with two flowering plants close by. No system to deal with the light pollution either. Just not worth the hassle. I feel bad still. Never like killing plants like that :(

IMG 20200804 115656

Now to more positive things. About 3 weeks of flower down. 69 days from seed. My bigger one is getting a little frosty. So damn exciting.

Still just watering, haven't fed for 3 weeks now. I think everything looks good? Starting to think this ones getting hungry again. Stretch is over I think as well. Been sitting at the same height on the stake for a few days now.

Still just relying on the plant to tell me what to do. So probably just continue to keep a close eye on things. Hard part is not over analyzing every little thing. But I also want to be on top of things before they get out of hand... Better fire up another bowl here.

Starting to smell like skunky gym socks. Only way I can describe it.

This little lady doesn't seem too interested in stretching at all. No smell. Just slowly trucking along. It's all good though, she's chill.

So I was out of town for week. Forcast looked pretty solid while I was gone so didn't really think much of it.

Wrong. Day after I left the temp dropped a good 5/10 degrees with over cast and scattered rain for a good 3 or 4 days. Wife didn't think any thing of it.

So long story short here I lost one of my autos. Really think it was super prone to mildew. She said the branches looked like they had icing sugar caked on them and it was peppered over half the plant. Don't have any pictures but she chucked it at my request.

So down to 1 plant haha.

Gave it a good water and some power bloom this morning. Think this should be my last feed before harvest.

Starting to question how good of a spot I really have here in terms of direct sunlight. Buds lookin bit small for this stage of flower? Really hope this thing swells up in these last few weeks. Just finished week 4.

Another week behind us, week 5 of flower is done. Hairs are changing colours, buds are fattening up (not as much as I would like!) and the sun has gone away :( only for a couple days of much needed rain. Got this little lady under cover. Bud rot at this stage would gut me.

She's thirsty too. Been watering every day. Anywho, few pictures here.

Alright, week 6 of flower is done. I was away all week camping so I had a friend come by to water the plants. Everythings looking good I think.

It's fattened up a bit. Honestly not sure what I'm expecting here hah. Notice some of the fan leaves starting to dull a bit as the she does her thing nearing the end. I don't have a loup. Phone doesn't quite do it justice. Maybe if someone sees this they can chime in and give me their thoughts on it. Still hard to see for me. Thinking I'll chop when everything goes cloudy.

Edit: hard to tell with the photo but I feel like I'm really close right now?

Picked up a humidity/temp gauge for the room I'll be drying in. Humidity in the whole house is around 60, just a bit on the warmer side. Nothing a little AC can't help with. Something that was my biggest worry I'm feeling a bit more confident about now. Really don't want to screw this part up.

Sitting about 92 days from seed, almost end of 7 weeks of flower.

Couldn't find a loup or anything for that matter so I ordered one off Amazon. Pretty sure my neighbour thinks I'm a nut. Last two days I've been kneeling at my plant a good few dozen times checking things out, talking to my self.

Pretty neat little microscope dealy.

So top of plant:

Lower:

I think I'm ready to chop tonight. Or maybe I'll drag it inside and let it sit in a dark room for a couple nights? Still unsure about doing that.

Also the whole wet trim vs dry trim. Do I hang it whole or do this brown paper bag thing I've been reading about.

Room I'm using is sitting at about 73f and rh is %70 but that's usually down around 60ish.

Decisions decisions.
