From what I can see its definitely time to chop chop. When the brown hair starts to curl onwards and the THC is milky to an amber color. I don't see any clear trichomes. And mainlining doesn't take that long to do. Just add a couple weeks. And for soil I would go with Coco always. Way easier to control just want to check soil pH when doing that so you can adjust your water ph accordingly. As for nutrients, there is so many different brands and flavors, find ones that work for you, and from the looks of it, you shouldn't have any issues. Using a soil moisture meter also helps, even with Coco. Coco doesn't retain water like soil so it helps roots to grow nice. Ntm if you add enzymes and mycrophzaes and things to help inoculating the roots. Nutrients can be utilized better by the plant if you learn more about the microorganisms in the soil and things to use. I use dynomyco, they are widely available and affordable, I also use a couple other mycrophzaes, once I learned about these things, trust me my plants lives changed. The same strains I have grown time and time again became more potent, and the turps became more defined and sweet.

Make sure you look at the entirety of the plant also not just one bud. You want at least 15-30% amber THC throughout the entire plant. Also thc still matures during drying and storage. If you want night time knock out bud then you can let it go longer before the chop. But it all depends on you, and what you are happy with. I do about 1.5 week hang dry cure with a good trim, only trimming left is just stuff I missed or didn't want to deal with at that moment. Then I switch to Mason jars and cure for at least three weeks. Also I burp the jars and shake the goods around once a day for the first week in the jar. Then once every three days till I can hear that perfect bud snap and the smell and taste by that time is usually where I want it. Everyone has their own way during the time to chop and how to cure.

I just want to try regular soil next to learn and also to get a break from nute mixing and having to water so often. I’m pretty busy all the time and it’s taken a lot out of me keeping up on these plants in the coco.

It's really is whenever you are ready . For me it depends on strain. Some I let go until 50-60% amber gold trichs. Otherwise STD is 15-30. Trichomes can change overnight. So keep a close eye. And if you plan to grow this strain again, keep a time log so you know what to expect and plan your nutes to flower schedule. Some of my plants in the past took up to 10-13 weeks to be ready, those were sativas though. Sativa doms now days people say around 9-10 weeks which is true because it's hard to find true sativas. Back to nutrients with soil, you definitely can use soil mix nutes/ dirt. I wouldn't expect super buds, but if done correctly, I have had some of the stinkiest and tastiest chronic from soil just never the yields I want. Only when I lived in Orville California growing outdoors did I get the weight I wanted out of soil lol. Just use a soil moisture meter to gauge when to water with soil and again check soil pH. Weed loves to be in a sweet spot and some soils have higher or lower ph than what is listed on the bag of the bag list it, yes you can get a plant to grow in almost all soil. But if you take a couple minutes to adjust the soil while transplanting or planting to help your plant be happy, there is plenty of ways adjust soil pH. Also adjusting just the water that comes from your tap or even bottles water. Most city water has a high ph. And another thing you can do is buy an aerator and a transfer pump with a fifty gallon garbage can and just mix your nutes in bulk for the week. Maybe a five gallon bucket for your size grow. And run a aerator in the bucket with it next to your tent or closet. One its easy and two makes the water closer to the temperature of the grow room. Just a few ideas and things to think about

Never mix nutes and just let it sit for long periods. Always keep the water moving in circulation. Otherwise some become anaerobic or less effective. It's a good practice for everyone to get into.

Yeah I had a 17 gallon bin i used with a little water pump in it to keep the water moving and I mixed the nutes in that for the week. But I had 3 plants and it quickly got to the point i had to refill the 17 gal bin like 3 times a week plus PH'ing everytime I watered all 3 plants every night. It just got to be a lot after a couple months. I want to just do a single plant in soil next. Like I said to learn more and take a break from that.

I recently been seeing grows in earthboxs. If I were to do live soil. I would go that route. I have been doing some research and had a few people on here send me a video on it . Definitely worth looking into. I'm not ready to make the leap yet myself from coco. I have a very good success rate with my way of growing. I usually get a great return, always dense fat buds that are tasty and always have a pretty high potency. I do have my hydro flower room as well. But I use that flower more for extracts, I may grow one for regular smoking in there once and while. But I have never liked the taste of bud grown in hydro, always has a different taste then if I grow in soil. Also the eathbox is the closest I have seen to being able to replicate outside microbiology of soil to an extreme, as well as keeping your soil clean and free of pests.
