First Grow - Indoor - Auto Bluetooth from MSNL

Yeah. I just checked the air pots for my next grow and the current containers barely fit into them. So, they will be slightly larger, but pretty close. I’ve read a ton of good stuff about the air pots tho. So, it’ll be cool to see if there’s a difference...

So you don’t notice a difference in either one?

At this point I feel genetics play a bigger role than pot size if you get good genes yes bigger pot makes more pot. Lol but I just don’t see the boost in yield vs space , it I also have a large variety going.if I had more space I might feel differently lmao

What about same pot volume, and plastic vs fabric?

Question....how do you guys check your trichomes? I’ve got a microscope and magnifying glass that I’ve been piddling with and man are they are to evaluate.

I know I’m still weeks away from harvesting, but just planning ahead. suggestions?

Thank you! I’ve read many articles and posts. Which is why i have a magnifying glass and a microscope.

And I meant to say “man are they HARD to evaluate.” If edit it but after 30 min, it’s locked. I’d say that’s the MOST annoying thing about this forum. Lol. Every other forum I’ve been a part of has been open to edits any time.

Another feed day. I’m maxing at 1/3 dose of FF. I went to half once and the plants looked like they were struggling a bit. I also targeted a lower pH of around 6 this time rather than the high 6s before. For the sake of seeing what it does, if anything.

Here’s my grow log again for the sake of not digging into my other posts again.....

GROW LOG HERE

here are a few pics as well. You can see many of the wires I’m using to LST in the Little Kai top down pic. I swear I’m going to have like 30FT of wire holding them down. It’ll be funny to see all the stakes when I pull them out at harvest.

So, I took a pic last night of both plants top down. I notice a pretty big color difference in them. One between the two, and again on the left one ( little Kai) between bud sites and foliage.

I’ve read that over feeding can cause lightening of foliage color. So maybe some over feeding?

but, they are also at different stages of their lifecycle. Is this also common for a flowering plant to change color a bit from an early flowering/veg? Or likely an over feeding situation?

next feeding I’ll probably do just water again to see what changes occur from it.

I finished my hidden exhaust vent. I’ve been venting outside WITHOUT a carbon filter for 24 hours now. VPD seems to be holding fine, which is good.

I opted to do this as the carbon filter makes my exhaust fan work a bit harder as it’s got to pull the air thru the filter. Plus, I don’t trust my neighbors, so I had to keep it hidden.

Here’s how it turned out!

How it looks fully installed. Hidden under a window well cover.

Pick up the cover and behind are a couple spacers to lift the cover off the window well frame. just to allow a space for air to flow out.

Without the spacers, you can see my vent mounted to my board. This has a back flow preventer so when i have the exhaust connected to my carbon filter or off, this prevents any air from coming in. There’s just a piece inside that lifts under air flow, and covers the opening when there’s no flow. Pretty simple.

From the inside, it looks like this, excuse the mess, it’s my utility room!

A close up of my attachment method. The two pieces are just sandwiched on either side of the window well opening in the foundation. I put some foam tube in the gap to seal it up.

And that’s it!

fed them again today. Buds are still growing well on Big Kai and Little Kai is chugging along. Still ~2 weeks behind.

I kept reading more on leaves being a bit lighter green. I believe i may have magnesium deficiency. I added 1/4 tsp/gal of Epsom salt to my watering this AM and I’ll be monitoring over today/tomorrow for any changes in foliage color.

As I was inspecting closer it was the older leaves showing more symptoms. It was hard to see at first as I have so much LST. But, again from what I’ve read, Epsom salt won’t hurt in this dosage. I have nothing to lose by adding it in.

This coloring also became more prevalent after my last feeding when I had dropped the pH to 6.2/5.9. Maybe it’s coincidence, but I brought it back to 6.8 today. Not a huge fan of changing 2 things at once for troubleshooting sake, but it’s still my first grow, I’ll learn more as I go.

This is a similar (or the same?) issue that came up when I first posted here. Maybe it was never resolved but adjusting pH back then helped it for a little. Or maybe I just brought it back when I lowered my pH.

So, to summarize what I did here after my long winded intro.....

-Upped pH of delivered water to 6.8 (from 6.2/5.9 last feeding)
-Added 1/4tsp/gal of Epsom salt
-Continued with 1/4 dose of FF trio

Not a huge fan of changing 2 things at once for troubleshooting sake, but it’s still my first grow.

Here are a couple pics of Big Kai, who seemed to have it the worst, but i added it to both plants just to keep it consistent.

Ok. So I fed yesterday morning with my FF trio and Epsom salt. Thinking maybe I had a Magnesium deficiency. I have learned a valuable lesson here. And that is, to remove plants from grow lights before evaluating anything that has to do with color.

I still think something is up though.

I’ll likely post the same thing in the infirmary section of the forum, but for the sake of having this also documented in my grow diary, here it goes.

focusing on Big Kai.

I pulled her from the lights and had her under my 3500K LED downlights in my basement. Here is how she looked.

She looks much healthier overall than under my grow lights, here she is the plant on the RIGHT:

However, there are a few leaves at the bottom of the plant that are still pretty yellow. See below.

I was originally thinking the issue was Magnesium dif. However, there hasn’t been a major change after I added Epsom salt to my last water ~36 hours ago.

So, now I’m thinking, is it Nitrogen? Maybe. But, she’s 4-5 weeks into flower, so likely not as she should require less Nitrogen, and my FF trio includes Nitrogen.

Is she coming up on the end of flower and this is normal? Again, maybe. But it’s my first grow.

Is it iron? Again, maybe. But, pH has been solid and I feed with dechlorinated tap water. Which should have plenty of iron in it.

Thoughts?

If you’ve got any questions to help get to the bottom, I’m an open book.

cool! Glad to hear that. Temps have been pretty consistent around 22-25C with humidity 40-50 or so. I’ll keep an eye on it a bit closer tho.

I’ve read good things about Cloudline. Pricey, but good reviews.

Good reviews with ipower too, but it’s half the price.

a lot of options at 6”, but seems less at 4 inch.

Grow is going well still! From my gage, Big Kai still has mostly clear trichomes. I didn’t see ANY cloudy ones. Is that normal for week 5 of flower? Or maybe the question should be, how fast does the clear to cloudy to amber transition usually come on?

Full shot of Big Kai

Bud scale shot. Roughly 4” long buds right now. But, like 20+ of them.

Here’s a side shot to show all of my LST. All of those colored wires are 14gage solid core wire. You can see red/white

here’s Little Kai, who is only around 3 weeks into flower. So still a ways to go.

Well, I think I have my last feeding to Big Kai today. Some trichomes are showing amber but still many clear and a few cloudy. It’s still hella hard to get eyes on them. I can really only spot check, but wish I could scan each bud.

I’ll be giving water for the next 2 waterings and then likely harvest next weekend. So roughly 8-10 days from now.

Here are a couple bud shots.
