Hello everyone,
This is my first indoor grow, ive only had a couple autoflowers outside during the summer months before and that went pretty good but now this is stressing me out because I can’t seem to find the issue.
I use a mars hydro ts1000 and use plagron algra grow and bloom.
The light is at the reccomended distance the manufacturer prescribed.
One of my autoflowers has dark green leaves that curl downwards like a claw with yellowing tips (mostly the bottom ones).
I stopped giving nutrients entirely when i noticed this and i have flushed the earth twice already but it doesnt seem to help. The budsites don’t smell as strong as im used to and they appear quite small.

I know they are only half the size they should have reached before flowering but because i messed up by severly overwatering one time they just didnt grow for 2weeks.
Its a LSD auto and gorilla cookies auto.

Any ideas or tips would be greatly appreciated since I’m all out of ideas.

That's pretty much it for this auto grow, nothing much you can do about it. All i'd do is allow those pots to dry between feedings. And i feed all my plants till about 2wks before harvest. This is what autos do when they get over fed and overwatered. Just chalk it up to another learning lesson and don't give up. Maybe they'll smell more as they mature further and they have a ways to go.
And when doing LST or topping all types of MJ plants need to be strong and healthy to not get stressed and stunt growth. I've stopped topping my autos just my preference nowadays but i do LST to hopefully get a bigger harvest and not be wasteful of my electricity as your experiencing now.

Thanks for the quick response.
So I just keep giving them regular water whenever the soil is dry and keep the nutrientwater away for now?

I only did LST because they started growing differently and since I only have one light I needed to keep them at the same height.
The one you see in the back’s main stem got completely snapped when I tried to LST so i just taped it back on and let it heal, the funny thing is that the one I thought I killed is doing better now than the bushy one in front.
The lst wires you can see in the pictures are from a month ago when she still looked perfectly healthy.

Since I was working with organic nutrients I thought it would be okay to give some more than recommended since the soil has to process it first but it seems like that was a huge mistake. I feel dumb not being able to properly grow autoflowers that are known for being easy lol.

Like Gal said, the horse has nearly left the barn on these. They look over-fed, but not yet burnt. Going forward, fill those pots to the top with soil. Deeper soil means deeper roots, which means more room for them to grow. 👍🏻

Pop some more seeds and rock on!

When you get started again, be sure to start a grow journal here on The Farm and you'll get more help than you can shake a stick at.

Thanks Bobcat

With “the horse has nearly left the barn” do you mean that this one will just die probably or that I did a bit of damage that is unfixable?

Oh yeah now that you mention it, i couldve added alot more soil to those pots.
Thanks for the advice tho

These should be done after 11-12 weeks and I planted them on 15february so they still have some time to mature (hopefully)
Ill probably start another grow soon after and start a grow journal aswell.

I was also wondering since I’m growing indoors I might aswell just use regular weed instead of autoflowers because you can make them flower whenever you feel like by changing the lights from 18/6 to 12/12 right?
I have a 80x80cm room so I can probably put 4 of them next to eachother in 10liter pots.

No what he means is the damage is done just ride these out and try again but learn from the mistakes. Yes keep them going just don't water as frequently, lift the pots feel the difference between wet and dry then you learn to not overwater. Feed but introduce the ferts lightly.

Another vote here for over-watering. When you see speedbumps and the individual venules between the veins, the leaves are bulging with water. Note that "over-watering" is watering too often, as opposed to giving too much water at once. Let the pots get very light before watering again.

Apologies! I need to keep in mind not everyone is a bumpkin like myself 🤣

Gal has you covered.

Regular seeds are fun. You get to chop the males, keep the females, take cuttings if you wish, do some breeding or seed production... Autos aren't necessarily easy! They're like lighting a stick of dynamite. Once the fuse it lit, you better run lol.

Oh alright I hadn’t thought about it that way.
I normally stick my finger about 3cm to see if the soil is still wet. If its dry I just water a little bit again.
When I thought I saw signs of nutrient burn I tried to flush te soil so I thought it would be enough for a whole week, but after like 3 days the plant was hanging and whitering because it was way too dry so I quickly watered again.
I lowered the temperature to around 26Cday/22night and humidity is stable at 30%, I get mixed advise about this because someone told me its better to have the room at 28-30?

I think I’m just missing the experience to find a correct routine that matches the plant and environment. Like I said, one time I did a guerilla setup outside with like 10autoflowers and I barely had to do anything while still getting some quality buds, mother nature took care of the lights, airflow and even watering.
Its difficult playing god lol

My apologies if I ask too many annoying or basic questions, its just that when I search something on google the experts writing the website always give different advise.

I'm asking what's in your soil. It makes a big difference to correct watering.
Its just a regular soil with 2months of nutrient labeled on the bag. Like just a standard 40l bag that costs like €3. I also mixed some perlite in the pot for better drainage.
I can go find the bag to give you the exact brand of soil if that’s what you’re asking?

That would help.

I agree. Overfed and overwatered. Absolutely can overdo with organic. And it won't rinse out as easy as synthetic (at least the dry type as I haven't tried liquid organic). When the pot is super light, it's time to water. I try to catch it before the leaves start drooping but occasional fail in his regard is no biggie.

Looks like it's peat based, with wood fiber, lime, and organic amendments. When I've run similar soils, I water slowly to runoff, only when the pots get very light. With small plants in big pots, that could take a week or more between waterings.

those girls have had way to much water.
you should never flush soil from my experience as all it does is create a slimy root ball.
let them dry until pots are light.
i think you'll be fine

Thanks alot everyone,
Ill be more attentive of how much I give them next time.
Would it be a big problem to let them get dry untill the leaves start drooping a bit?
Or will that just stress them out even more then this overwatering?

My bad, I heard from a friend that flushing the soil will get rid of the excess nutrients. But it sounds like nutrient toxicity isn’t even the problem here.

Water at the very first signs of wilting. They'll be fine.
