Hi everyone, I'm growing my first plant (Bruce Banner). I was wondering since I bought a TDS pen, when do you start giving nutrients usually and what ppms of total nutrients do you give at which points in their life? I understand plants need more phosphorus and potassium in flower but how do you ramp up ppm?

What are you growing in? In most cases a ppm/ec pen is not necessary in soil grows, but is pretty much essential in coco/hydro grows.

For Veg you use a high Nitrogen fertilizer like 12-8-4
For Flowering switch to a high Phosphorus fertilizer like 5-15-5
When flowering you can also add something like a Bloom booster.
I use a small amount of Monster Bloom 0-50-30 to increase potassium and phosphorus percentages.

There are hundreds of videos on how to use fertilizers on a farm size scale. But not many on how to use fertilizer on a small scale. It took me years to find this video. If you want to understand how to mix fertilizer for growing cannabis. Please take the time to watch it a few times. Grab a calculator a pencil and a bunch of paper.
Start running numbers until it's easy for you.

On a bottle of fertilizer there are 3 numbers these are known as NPK numbers.
This link will enplane NPK.

Congrats! Are you growing photos or autos? And like @Phyto asked, what are you growing in? ✌️

I'm growing in Roots Organics ROD75 coco fiber based potting soil. Here's the ingredients.
  • INGREDIENTS: Organic ingredients including bat guano, premium earthworm castings, fish bone meal, feather meal, green sand, mycorrhizae, glacial rock dust, soybean meal, humic acid
I guess my plan was to introduce some nutrients at a low ppm after my plant hit 5 weeks because I heard that the plant exhausts the soil nutrients after a while 🤔

Really don't need to measure PPM or EC in an organic grow. You can introduce organic nutes slowly, follow the manufacturers feed table (start at 25-50% and see how the plants tolerate it, then adjust acordingly.

I'm growing a photo, I wanted to start with those because I had heard auto's can be finicky. And for the answer to the soil please see my answer to phyto

So the fertilizer I have is synthetic, and I understand it to be more rapid acting than organic. You're saying don't use it or try it at quarter strength? If I did want to use it, when would be the best time during the plants life?

Thank you I'll check it out

Growing the very best bud I can grow is my hobby. I grow Synthetic, Organic and living soil. All have there advantages and disadvantages.

Indoors in a tent. I myself prefer Synthetic in a mix of 50/50 Peat Moss and Vermiculite. I don't use any pre loaded soils like Ocean Forest or any 2 or 3 part nutrients. I mix plain old hardware store liquid fertilizers.

The big thing is pick one. Spend some 90 days studying. While you are growing this plant study for your next grow.
It won't be long and you will have an understanding of what the plant likes and dislikes. Keep it as simple as you can.
Indoors in your 2x2 tent. Grow 1 real nice 10 out of 10 plant at a time.
Living soil outdoors.

Indoor Synthetic.

I would classify Gaia Green an Organic nutrient mix.
I have tried it indoors. Small space Where I am currently finishing Babe Buddha with great results but did not keep a record.
