Hey folks, so I harvested my first plant grown with DWC and hydroton. The plant looked very healthy all the way and the buds smelt absolutely amazing all the way through flower and the drying process which lasted 8 or 9 days between 55 - 60% RH. After that I trimmed the buds (still smelled amazing) from the stems and put them in the jars and have been burping 3 - 4 times a day for 3 days so far. Problem is that on the first day and very first burp, I noticed the smell had completely transformed and was very pungent and pretty gross right off the bat. Is this normal or did I fuck up? I really hope I'm not about to find out I need to dump 80 grams and 3 months of hard work into the trash.

Thanks in advance.

Please describe your burping process. You may need to dump the buds out onto a tray for a while if they are retaining too much moisture in the jars.

If its a fresh cut hay smell, just lay them out on some paper plates for a couple hours. If its a woody mossy smell its mold, check some with a magnifying glass for cottony threads, especially brown spots.

Thanks for the reply, the burping is simply opening the jar, shaking the bud around a bit to let it breath and then leaving it open for 15 to 30 minutes before sealing it back up again. I dumped the bud out onto a cooking tray with parchment paper on it and left it for about 3 hours. The smell completely went away. Put the buds back in the jars and the smell came back but not quite as harsh. I just dropped a couple mini hydrometers in the jars. They are both sitting at 52% RH. I don't use any humidity packs or anything.
