First Harvest! Mystery Strains

Hey everyone... so as best I could tell, one of my 5 girls was ready to harvest, so we went ahead with it tonight.

This is my first time with trimming/drying/curing, so if anyone sees anything I should be doing differently, please tell me.

I cut off all the big fan leaves, and any other leaves that I could see where they attached to the stem... any leaves that were growing out of the bud I left so far.

Is there anything I can do with the leaves that I already cut off... there arent really any trichomes on them or anything, so I don't know if I can use them to make hash or anything like that... ?

Also, I only took the top 3/4 of the plant and left the bottom 1/4 still under the light just to see if the bottom ones would grow any more in the next few days. Is this a good, bad, or irrelevant decision?

I'm still trying to get my manicuring skills down... getting off as much of the leaf without cutting into the bud. It's tricky at first.

Congrats...looks like a nice haul first-timer......I don't sweat the fan leaves..I strip those off and toss them...all the minor trimming...the sugar leaf I save for butter or a batch of gumby hash....there's usually more there than meets the eye.
I think leaving those small buds to finish are irrelevant.

Oh....them PFunks are gonna kill ya...lol......I used to smoke those boredom sticks....seems my age is catching me these days.....

Interesting drying technique... is that just a srting across a rubbermaid container? I'm interested in different drying styles because my last few crops (organig coco based) have ended smelling like fresh cut grass instead of dank bud. The high is still potent but my customers look at me a little weird after they smell the bag. Do you think your drying method affects the final smell?

Couldn't tell you man. This is my first harvest ever. I can tell you they still smell dank as hell right now!

Honestly the only reason i put them on the string across the rubbermaid is because I dont have many dark places in my house so I figured if I did that it would be dark. I have 3 holes cut in the top and I put a black shirt over it and a small fan sucking air out of one of them for ventilation.

I sure will let you know how it works out though!

boss you need to wait for atleast 85% of the pistols on you buds have turned dark, i wait till the they all turn myself and the most important thing is to make sure you dont get impatient!!! dry your stufff out all the way b4 you ever stik it in a bag or jar. leave hanging till the stems snap an then cut them down into a paper bag 4 a while then seal them up. people get scared to let there stuff dry out all the way cause you dont want your buds turning to dust but at that point you can bring them back a little with some flower tortilla or somthing. everyone has there own way they do it but one thing for sure that everyone knows is that you dont want to seal you bud up till it is dry all the way cause it will screw up your smell and taste!!
